There is NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT, no shops, no night clubs and no people nearby so therefore it is extremely QUIET and peaceful at our place. If you are afraid of hard work, cattle, cats, cleaning, cooking, talking, smiling, asking questions, 6am starts, aussie people, rural life, living in a shed, the sun, building muscles, offering help etc then THIS ISN'T THE PLACE FOR YOU. Region: New York StateOur community is undergoing an awakening. For several decades our city's population has been declining and the result is a lot of vacant houses and empty lots; it can look very depressing. However, many people are energized to create a place we are proud to call home. We are a group of people in our 20s-40s rebuilding houses and community gardens; many of us are artists, makers, educators and environmentalists. All of us have more than one job and volunteer in our community; we are very hardworking, but enjoy being outdoors and sharing our city's uniqueness. We are all workaholics; many of the projects we do, do not feel like working to us because we enjoy it. I have been in public service almost my whole life. I traveled a lot when I was younger, living mostly in southern U.S. but also several years in Germany, Japan and Turkey. I traveled to several places in Europe, Israel and Greece; I miss traveling!!! We began workaway in the summer of 2012, we worked with another local host and total, we have accomodated 10 workaway volunteers from France, Ireland, Spain, Austria, Long Island and Nevada; they were great!
