Region: SaxonyThis is a opportunity for people who want to spent some time in the beautiful nature in the middle of Saxony (middle-east-Germany). This is a project with varied activities and for people who want to be self dependent. After welcome and introduction in the place and the work you will have contact with your host only once a week or so. Thus we prefer to have a long term helper, who after some time knows the work well and can introduce short term helpers. we seek: --> 1 or 2 long time helper/s (2 month or longer / all year round) --> occasional helpers (2-5 days, 1 week or longer) Near the old heritage village of Koessern nearby Colditz-Castle (Leipzig 40km, Dresden 70km, Berlin 180km, railwaystation 5km), right in a forest with a lot of birds, next to a lake and a small river with fishes a beaver a property of about 1200 square meters waits to be maintained (gardening, making firewood, create a vegetable garden). Near the actual garden, where you will live and work are other places where you will help to start the eco farm: this is a long term project, we will start with cultivating the land etc. Sometimes we organise some activities there, like canoetours, renting out tents or small houses - you will help with this also if needed. You can take the bike to reach these places. Helping here means being in your "own place" much of the time, but we also offer the opportunity to travel to other places nearby and help there for some days too. This means you should be flexible concerning work and time. We provide you with basic food, the preparation is up to you. If you stay for a longer time, you can take care for the online promotion and communication concerning holiday home and guests.

Region: MarcheMarc and Ivan are currently restoring a medieval town house converting it into boutique tourist destination. Situated in the medieval walled town of Gualdo, Marche, our place is a luxury boutique Palazzo. The property was built in 1625 and originally formed part of the eastern gate of the old town wall. A warm welcome waits for you at our boutique, the south facing property is bathed in sunshine and all rooms will have breathtaking views of the Sibillini National Park, all the way to the Grand Sasso. Minutes away are the towns of San Ginesio and Sarnarno. This boutique guest house is the perfect venue to discover undiscovered Italy. The property will be opening in June 2013 We love cooking, wine and enjoying the marche countryside with our two dogs (Mayling and Darling)
Region: AlsaceHello workawayers! We are a farmer family, my parents and I (my partner is working somewhere else) working on the production and direct sale of fruits and vegetables. We live together on the farm inside a Alsatian village close to Strasbourg. Our scary home guard dog lives with us. In the past, I worked as scientist during some years in universities and industries and decided sometime ago to take over the small farm of my parents (they are retired but still help a lot). We produce fruits and vegetables and sell them directly at home and on markets close to Strasbourg. For example, our biggest productions are strawberry, apples, potatoes, tomato, salad... More about the farm: it is not an organic farm but we use pesticides as little as possible. We use black plastic cover to avoid weed growing and weeding is mostly done mechanically. The volunteer will not work with pesticides. The farm is located about 10 km away for Strasbourg which can easily be reached by bicycle (1h), train (8 min), bus (1h) or car (15min). The cultural and leisure activities offered by the city of Strasbourg and its region are very interesting and allow for discovering and learning more about Europe. In addition, besides it natural beauty, the Rhine valley mixes the cultures of three countries: France, Germany and Switzerland. We expect the volunteer to help us about about 25 hours per week depending on the season. Basically we would do some work togehter on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (afternoon) and Thursday. Friday being "free". I believe that this schedule will give time enough to the volunteers for discovering the region. Depending on our time we will also be happy to show her/him around. I do not consider volunteer as cheap worker and will not ask to do lobs that I would not do either. We are looking forward hosting volunteer from all over the world, please contact us if you are interested! Thierry
