Penny is Tasmanian and loves exploring her native state , so we are happy to roam the coast, rivers and bush with you. We visit the beach frequently because we and our dogs adore it.
Steve would love to tell you about turbines and Charles Algernon Parsons.

    Help

As most of farm work is physical we may not be appropriate for people who have no experience of physical work. We might ask you to stack wood, paint fences, or weed and plant the garden. If you have particular skills, such as building or cooking, then we would like to utilise them.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a lovely century old wooden farm house, with three spare bedrooms, in which you would share our living areas. There is a separate bathroom for Workaways. Should you be allergic to dogs we can only advise that the air is thick with the hair of spaniels.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are about 75 minutes drive from Cradle Mountain.

Ulverstone and adjacent beaches are 20 minutes drive north and Leven Canyon is a similar distance south west.
Locally, within 5 km, is Wings Wildlife Park, Gunns Plains Caves, Preston Falls and the northern end of the canyon.
We have a private 1.5 km stretch of the River Leven which has brown and rainbow trout.

There are also platypus in the farm dam.

If you love reading, we have a large library and plenty of great curling up spots.

There is no public transport but we have 2 cars and frequently go exploring. If you have a drivers license and we feel you are responsible we can lend a car.

To avoid any distress with animal lovers it should be noted that since our retirement the farm is leased for livestock production.
Currently it is stocked with dairy cattle but at times cattle used for beef production may also be on the farm so we may not be a suitable host if you feel raising cattle for human consumption is immoral.
