We now have all the offers of help we need at the moment, thank you. We are Maddy and Neil (both 44) with two small children (6 and 4). We both enjoyed lots of travelling and backpacking around the world before the children came along and met some great people. We now live in the countryside in Oxfordshire in a very pretty 300 year old cottage with lovely views and red kites circling above, just 10 miles from the famous city of Oxford and within easy reach of London (40 minutes by train from our local station). Maddy is a part time teacher and Neil works for a fashion company in London. We have 8 acres of land, a cat called Oscar and have a small herd of black Dexter cows which we breed for meat. We have planted an orchard and dug vegetable patches and Neil is enjoying learning about gardening in his spare time. We have an acre of garden and a heated outdoor swimming pool which you are welcome to use. We need help mainly outside with general maintenance as Neil works in London and doesn't have time for all the jobs that need doing. We may also need help decorating inside the house once the outside work has been done and possibly help in the house with cleaning and ironing. Only non smokers please. We can accommodate a couple. The nearest village is 0.4 miles away (10 minutes walk) and has a pub with an Indian restaurant, a village hall with yoga and dance classes and a busy and social cricket club. There is a bus stop in the village with regular buses to Oxford (the famous ancient university, lots of culture and museums, galleries, shops, bars and cafes, shops, cinemas, theatres etc), our lovely local market town of Thame (beautiful buildings, weekly market, lots of pubs and cafes, supermarkets and shops, a library and a leisure centre). We live opposite an organic farm (vegetables, pigs, sheep and horses) and there is a weekly farm shop open selling produce, cakes and local jams etc. Our local train station (Haddenham and Thame- 8 miles away) has frequent trains to London but Neil is also happy to give you a lift to North Acton tube station in London on Mondays to Fridays as he drives there each day for work, as long as you can manage an early start! He could also bring you home again in the early evening. There are also walks to explore and sports facilities at Thame leisure centre.

We are a female couple in our 40's who both work for the NHS (UK National Health Service) and have just bought an old Victorian property together. It is an amazing house (and we love it) with tons of original period features that need bringing back to life through very careful means, lots of sanding and painting! We also need help doing up our garden. We can also host weekends, and are urgently looking for people for two long weekends. These will be Thursday 2nd May to Monday 6th May inclusive, and Friday 24th May to Monday 27th May inclusive! We would offer a shared room with another female workawayer. If there is a man who would like to join us we can only offer accommodation on the sofa unfortunately, but will make up by feeding you well with lovely vegetarian food! We can offer a great cultural experience as I am Indian and my partner is English. We love helping people with advice and guidance on how to get around the best London tourist sites on a budget, and we want to learn about your culture too, as we are very well travelled ourselves! The ideal workawayer would be someone who has experience of restoration projects particularly old properties, or an interest in the history of Victorian architecture and history, and has a good command of English, Also is hard working and fun loving and reliable. We have accommodation in Zone 3 in London so the transport into Central London is relatively cheap (London transport is not cheap I know!) and quick.

Area: Lazio

We are an Australian couple who spend the summer in our Italian house overlooking the medieval village of Cottanello in the Sabine Hills in Lazio, near the Umbrian border. The nearest large town is Rieti, the physical center of Italy and we are only 1.5 hours from Rome. Our property has one hectare of land planted with olive and fruit trees and is situated in the foothills of the Sabine Hills. Our renovations, with the exception of one room, are complete, so the main body of our work is gardening and generally maintaining the grounds which comprises mowing, brush cutting, weeding and pruning. For relaxation there are some good mountain walks, with panoramic views over the valleys and villages below, and on a clear day you can see as far as Rome. We have a good selection of books, internet access and an art studio where you can paint and work with clay if this interests you.

Our family is not big so far - me and my wife. We adore to travel and meet (host) people from all around the world. We have visited together or separately the following countries: Japan, China, Spain, Italy, USA, Canada, Germany, Caribbean countries, France, Poland, Holland, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Finland, Cyprus, etc. A couple of years we were active in CouchSurfing and HospitalityClub for hosting people in the town.
