Área: Manawatu-WanganuiWe are looking for 1-2 self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals to help with cleaning and reception duties, gardening, painting, planting trees, clearing predator traps and looking after a pet goat and miniature horse at our 16 bedroom lodge. The team here are also responsible for a conservation project at our local Primary School. We are building a wetland, eliminating pests and establishing a beautiful native forest near the Lodge in conjunction with members of the community and students of the School. We are fortunate enough to have a pair of rare and endangered native New Zealand falcon (karearea) who live on our property so it's important we do everything we can to ensure their survival. The Lodge is set on 5 acres in a small farming town situated between two national parks. We are close to Mt Ruapehu ski areas, the Tongariro Crossing, the Bridge to Nowhere, Whanganui River, mountain biking, horsetrekking and loads of bush walks. Raetihi has a small supermarket, internet cafe, museum, library and a few shops. In exchange for approximately 24 hours work per week we provide you with accommodation and all meals. Hours are flexible so you can take days off to enjoy some of the activities our region has to offer. Your hosts are Sandy (Mum), Dan (Dad) and Blue (NZ's cutest 3 year old). To get to us you can take a NakedBus or InterCity to Raetihi or the Northern Explorer train to Ohakune.
Área: MindoWe live near Mindo, a place well known in Ecuador for its nature, rivers and birdwatching possibilities, it's called the “rainforest in the mountains”. We are a family of 5 and have a 45 ha piece of land 40 minutes away from town. The land is bordered by a big river, some small rivers and has about 35 ha of untouched rainforest. We keep bees, chickens, goats, pigs and have two big dogs and two cats. Our veggies and animals are organically grown, we try to live in a self-sustainable way as much as possible. We are not vegetarian, but in practice only eat meat perhaps twice a month. We make our own bread and prepare all food from scratch and with fresh ingredients. There is a wooden house for the family and another one for the volunteers, two rivers, 2 acres of banana and coffee, some acres of pasture, a veggie garden, two greenhouses and many more acres of virgin cloud forest. There is no wifi, no phone, no electricity (we do have a generator to charge phones, etc). There sure is running water (from a natural spring), a compost toilet and a WARM shower. We also run a small café and shop in town, so help is sometimes needed there too. There are many things to do: feeding and caring for the animals, taking care of the veggies, some maintenance and building work, clearing, planting and reforesting, preparing food, some occasional childminding. Some important info: 1. There are no fees and cost involved in volunteering with us 2. There are most likely other volunteers here at the same time 3. Depending on what the job is work starts early or very early 4. The work is diverse: gardening, planting, building things, animal care, preparing food, harvesting; ocasionally it could also include some childcare and helping running the coffee and shop. 5. We request a minimum stay of 2 weeks If you would like to be part of our project, please drop us a line telling us a bit about your interests and especially skills like “I can flap my ears”, “I can cook a dinner for 12 with only water and grass” or “I can carve wooden doves out of a beer can”. We would very much appreciate your time and your help. Genny, Ingo and Family

Área: EnglandDoggie Training and general help required in small, friendly household, West Yorkshire. We are a family of four, I Monika, my partner Pete and our two doggies "babies" Alfie and Millie! We discovered workaway through my Son and his friend who spent a year touring the world volunteering with the workaway scheme having a fabulous time so ,after hearing their adventures we decided it would be ideal for us to sign up as hosts ourselves. We are easy going, relaxed, down to earth folk who like nothing more than to socialize with interesting people. We would like to open our doors to workawayers not just for help with our "babies" and in the home, but also to take part in a cultural exchange and to meet new people. We both work full time, on a shift basis, so we need volunteers who are motivated and who can work under their own initiative. Like most households there is not a lot to be done here, but there is always the daily activities of cleaning, dog walking and preparing evening meals, but we are receptive to new ideas and will try to adapt tasks to your individual skills.
