Area: central area in the city, near the coast (no beach though) where they've built a park along the seaHi to everyone who wants to visit China, Since I've already accepted a long-term workawayer, therefore I can only host short-term travellers who can stay at my place up to a week. The other option is you can stay with me between your trips in China. There's no work for you, all I ask is to bring your stories and you are welcome to teach me and my family any skills you have, such as languages, music instruments (I play piano btw). You can still send me a request if you want to stay more than a week, because I'm also doing a favour for my friends who have kids that really want to improve their English. English is one of the compulsory subjects in Chinese schools, plus studying abroad is a growing trend in China, but people don't have any chance to practice. Doesn't matter whether you are a native English speaker or not, they only need someone to push them to speak. Shenzhen is at the border between mainland China and HongKong. I can see Hongkong from where I live. Only needs couple of hours drive from HK international airport. Public transport (e.g. ferry and train) is slightly slower but still convenient. I'm a student in the UK and won't go back home until July 2013. But my place is fully booked in July. Since most of my friends only know little English, and not familiar how this works, so they can only host after I go back. There is maybe more work for you during summer holidays (July & August) if you are staying with my friends, but it is also more likely that they will have time take you to some cool places during that period. look forward to hear from you Cheers Wency

Area: Provence Alpes AzurUPDATED March 2014: ***************************** THANK YOU to everyone who has contacted us - we now have a full team and are no longer seeking volunteers. ***************************** We are on for April 2014 and need one or two more volunteers! We are building a mixed, enthusiastic and creative team of Workawayers for a month of painting, masonry, renovation, gardening and general refreshing of a large house for the month of April. We're especially interested in people with handyman, painting and other building trades experience or gardening skills and others to help with cooking and/or housekeeping for the team, but the most important thing is enthusiasm and good spirits. We are relaxed and easygoing and expect that with enough hands the work will be light. For your work you will be generously fed, watered and housed in one of the house's many rooms (including double rooms should you come as a couple). As there will be a team of us, it will be a great opportunity to meet other people, gain new perspectives, practice another language or simply enjoy the company and surroundings of the beautiful Var. The local village has basic amenities including small shops, a bar, restaurant, boulangerie, library and post office. There are also tennis courts nearby and a football pitch for the sport enthusiast. ONE THING TO NOTE: Public transportation is rather limited, and it is not always easy to come and go. There are one or two buses per day, to bigger towns, but it is not a place to come and go frequently. We can try to help arrange rides when possible or excursions, but please understand that this is somewhat isolated if you are used to cities. The property is a large house in Provence, France (sleeps 6-10) that over the long term we are converting into an artist retreat and getaway. The location is quiet and out of the way, ideal for writers, artists, composers, etc. who would enjoy being off the beaten path. We have a large vegetable garden and fruit and nut trees that provide all sorts of good food in season, and the town is in the heart of wine country. The project is in it's early stages and we're very open to finding a way to fit the right people into the plan over the longer term so we'd be very happy to build relationships.
Area: Aquitaine SW FranceI built my log-house from a Scandinavian kit in 2005, double garage/workshop in 2006 and the 10x5 pool in 2011. I had some help initialy to get the walls up, and the roof on, but everything else I've done on my own. The object being to rent it as a summer holiday home while I escape to the Pyrenees, in my camper, to cycle and fish. Considering the economic climate it's working very well, I have 6 weeks booked from mid-July. The house and garage now need another coat of varnish or paint (2/3 actually) and I wouldn't mind some help! I'm a good cook, good fun and considerate, and can provide references to back-up these extravagent claims from friends who've had workaways. I'm a very keen cyclist, guitarist and lover of music. The bar in the next village has concerts 3 times a week and I go to nearly all of them. The available accomodation is either a bedroom with 2 singles or a double and own bathroom.
