Area: MallorcaWe are a friendly, fun loving family of five living in the centre of the island of Mallorca. We live in a finca on the outskirts of the pretty village of Alaro. Our three children are Max age 7, Theo age 4 and Bonnie age 8 months. During the summer holidays my husband will be working away regularly, their for we are looking for help with the children from 20th June to the end of July. The boys are full of energy and love to be kept busy. We spend the days going to beach, socialising with other families and doing various day trips to the water park etc. My eldest son needs to do school work daily over the long summer break so someone with teaching experience would be fantastic. Summers are hot but great fun here on the beautiful island Mallorca.
Area: Lower Normandy**Update** Yay, we're back! After a long delay due to unforeseen circumstances we are recommencing work-away projects! For those keen to join the Chez-Kiwi team we have stone work, paving, and decking projects (exterior) and spiral staircase, balustrading, and flooring woodwork projects and painting and decorating projects (interior). There are also various ancillary projects for those who are particularly skilled/keen - we are looking to extend our son's tree-hut with a second higher platform and with netting, and we have a interesting textile project of reupholstering our lounge suit in an eclectic contemporary style.. And of course there should be the usual fun, sun and chaos! **Description** We are a Kiwi family living in historic Normandy, renovating our amazing 470+ year old farmhouse whilst perfecting our French and generally immersing ourselves in French life. We are returning the house to it's traditional majestic beauty by reinstating the thatched roof and exposing it's stone and oak features, whilst at the same time adding modern twists of glass, metal and bold colour, and the occasional 'kiwi twist'. We are a couple who have travelled and worked in many different countries and enjoy learning about different cultures. Here in France, we have a simple but good life enjoying the outdoors in our pool, jacuzzi, trampoline, kids play area, brazier and bonfire pit, etc. We are in the countryside just outside an active village, our 8 year old son goes to the local school (~2km/10min cycle to town), and workawayers are welcome to use our bikes to explore the local towns and cafes, scenic and historical sights, local markets etc. We're in the midst of an extensive ecological project to re-thatch and insulate our chaumiere. This involves many ancillary projects such as paving and decking, terrassing and drainage, exterior insulation, lime repointing and double glazing. Additionally we are in the midst of many interior projects such as the construction of oak spiral stairs, installation of wooden kitchen worktops, and repair of 300 yr old oak flooring. We use natural/traditional products where ever possible and have a simple organic vegetable garden. We are looking for enthusiastic generally capable people who would enjoy helping us in exchange for access to this fantastic part of France. We are of course happy to assist those wishing to improve their French and/or cultural understanding of France and assist you with access to tourist sights where we can. We're close to all the historic D-day sites (actually on the D-day 'route-de-libertie'), the evocative Abbaye d'Hambye is 5 mins away, the local beach (a fantastic never-ending stretch of golden sand) is 30 mins by car, there are wonderful local produce tours (cheese, cider, calvados etc) and it's only 40 mins to the famous Le Mont St Michel.

Area: TuscanyOur mission, so far, has been to to recuperate the ancient arteries of our woods...the lost footpaths of the forest... For the past 2 years we have been involved in a process of reawakening the agricultural values in our quaint, festive and well-spirited community, that is the village of Gorfigliano---a natural paradise in the midst of the Apuane Alps of Tuscany... We are looking for people who have a love of agriculture, music, arts and a natural desire to help others...each with her/his unique talents...our current fascination is with social/bio dynamic agriculture, (or in other words) a pure, organic, chemical-free style of living. Whilst one is a member of the organization, the jobs one is required to perform (just 5 days a week) may vary from gardening, chopping wood, organizing village festivals, teaching native languages (especially to children : ), cooking, cleaning, participating in jam sessions in the village square, etc... We are looking for some lucky volunteers to share a unique life experience with...it's not a joke...this is for real...if you are interested, feel free to contact us : ) Figaro
