Area: Yallourn North, Gippsland, Victoria, AustraliaWelcome to Australia, I hope you have an awesome time wherever you choose to go. Not 3 star accommodation but clean and simple - perfect if you would like to experience living a simpler less complicated life, ABOUT ME - Being a single parent bringing up a daughter alone, I had to learn stretch the dollar, so recyling started, making own furniture, some electrical and plumbing work, painted my own residence, had my own garden. BUT NOW a little too much to do alone when only 95% active and very frustrating. Do have some power tools, enough for work that is needed, if not I can purchase more. SHARED my home for many years with boarders from Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Scotland, England and Canada - and was blessed being invited and able to go to Japan, England and Canada. It is great to be doing so again. Think it is almost impossible to get old and stale while having younger people around me, so much to learn from each person and a privilege.
Area: Poitou CharentesI moved to France in October 2010 with my husband who has since returned to the UK. I decided to stay on and try to turn our property into a holiday business. To be honest I love it here so much and have worked so hard to renovate the place that I could not bear to leave it. I live with my 2 collies, Blue and Sam, three horses and 2 cats. There are three houses on my property, one is already operating as a gite, one is the house where I live which is now finished but which I propose letting out as a gite or using to host fully catered painting holidays and the other is mid renovation. There is plenty to do here for anyone who loves gardening, decorating, work generally on the land (there is 30 acres of woods to play in!). At the moment I also need help setting up my holiday business and getting the marketing underway. This is a very quiet rural area, but I know lots of people locally so lead a relatively active social life which you can join in with. The show jumping season starts in April so Sundays is often going to shows if that interests you.
Area: SomersetBruton is a fantastic and diverse little town community, set in the midst of beautiful west-country countryside! I have a lovely tucked-away home and garden, just minutes walk into the centre of town, which I share with my two young children who are here half the time and also a partner who is here some of the time! I work from home some of the time: I'm a psychotherapist and also facilitate groups and run workshops in conscious collaboration, I'm also training to teach mindfulness meditation in schools. I'm very well travelled, I spent a year living in Spain in my 20's and then went on to live and travel in Asia for 7 years. I really enjoy meeting people from other cultures. I have a 10 year old and 7 year old who live here half the time so ability to get on and have fun with 2 young, energetic and endlessly curious kids a must! We are a pretty happy and relaxed household. Both my children are Steiner educated and we veer towards a pretty natural/organic lifestyle! We don't have a TV, but love music, being in nature, creative/art projects and having fun. Bruton is a really great little town, there are good train links to Bristol, Bath and London. There are great cafes, pubs and beautiful wide open spaces, and a soon to open international art gallery which will really put Bruton on the map! Glastonbury is 30 minutes away and I travel a lot between here and Glastonbury so can offer lifts for day trips there.
