We're a small backpackers hostel overlooking the beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes and surrounded by trees, fresh air and wildlife. We're open each year from May until late October and just down the road from the start of the Cabot Trail. If you enjoy being active, we are close by to hiking, kayaking, biking, swimming and beaches. Workawayers are welcome to help with landscaping, housekeeping, renovations and building projects, website optimization, helping travellers, answering phones etc . We host hundreds of international backpackers each season and invite you to be part of this great place! Late afternoon and night is left for BBQ's, reading in the hammocks, campfires, and music. Please contact at least a few days before as we only have room for 1-2 workawayers at a time and we don't want to disappoint. Time of stay is flexible but I prefer a minimum of 3 days. Special consideration is given to those with carpentry, building and electrical skills as we are hoping to build a couple cabins from recycled barn wood and run by solar power. Talk to you soon!

Has old-fashioned courtesy been consigned to the rubbish-dump? Any hope at all that workawayers could spare 30 seconds to reply to messages?! I am an artist/writer/photographer living in a smallish bungalow situated 1 km. from a 13th century walled town with very narrow streets! Bhind my house is a 1-acre field with a stable where my Shetland pony, Flicka and my donkey, Kassie live – though they do visit me unexpectedly now and then! I would really like to find a helper who would spend some time grooming the equines and teaching them to walk on a lead-rein with a soft bit. I have three cats, Lulu (aged 12) who spends a lot of her time in the stable, Kiwi (4) and Siog (Gaeilge for ‘fairy’), the baby, both of whom spend most of their time in the house with access to a walled courtyard for fresh air. My day is usually taken up with painting or designing in Photoshop, recording or mixing audio projects in my studio, writing my weekly columns for a local newspaper and a national magazine, taking and processing photographs and playing my beloved Takamine EN-40. I have lots of other instruments in my studio.

We live near Lucca, Tuscany - and have a house with 4 hectares of land. Would be really good to have some help with the pruning of the olive trees, clearing of the land and woods and general work. Also if have basic building skills, to build a couple of garden walls etc that would be great! We are an English couple who live here all year round - and we have an estate agency. Our 13 years old daughter is here with us in the school holidays. The house is 30 mins from Lucca and we have a lovely big swimming pool (120 sqm) in very pretty surroundings. We have a wide circle of friends who we socialize with a lot, love good food (Tuscan and international!) and wine. We have four cats - who live mostly outside - but are very spoilt boys! I am a Teacher Of English and I am a PC technician too, but I am now at the University reading for my BA in languages degree. I live in a town called Passara which is about 400 Km away from the capital city. And have a sister too, we live with our parents. Mum is a teacher so is sister and dad is retired.

There is myself, my husband Neville and seven various dogs all rescue dogs, very excitable but very lovely. So it's a good idea that you really do like dogs. Oh and we have one cat that pops home every now and then. He has only three legs. We need help to weed that garden, clear a field, help with erecting a fence and maybe some painting..Also some cooking if you feel like it. Any help at all , doing anything that needs to be done. We have a small bedroom with two single beds, and although we are not great cooks we do manage to survive.I am good at Baked Beans on Toast ,,,if I don't burn the beans!!! Neville was very ill earlier this year and is not quite up to being able to do some of the work that he could do before. he is trying hard but is struggling...so we could do with a bit of ! If you feel that you could spare us a week or even two we would be forever grateful.... Sushitsa is a small agricultural village,Nine shops, a library, post office, doctior's surgery and dental practice. There are three buses a day but at night it is a taxi which are cheap and reliable. We have English TV as well as Bulgarian..also the internet
