    Description

Situated near Nairn, close to Inverness and Loch Ness, our ecology charity trust was formed in 2023 to protect 50Ha of natural native woodland, wetland and Organically farmed permanent pasture along with the abundant wildlife living here; and to educate the public on the importance of nature for human well-being. As you can imagine there are a host of jobs associated with the Trust; cattle, sheep and hens grazing in the woods, public events such as woodland walks, courses in Organic vegetable gardening and mandala making, and building maintenance. If you have a speciality there are animals, birds and flowers to survey, ponds to dip and insects to record.

Four families live here. You will have accommodation with the Ranger [Duncan] and mostly be with him, but will meet and work with the others as well. In their spare time the community interests include kite surfing, foraging for mushrooms, learning the guitar, Scottish Country Dancing, making mandalas, hill walking, eco building, anti GM campaigning, Organic vegetable gardening and preserving the fruit, plus cooking meals from home grown produce.

We are looking for volunteer helpers for stays of 4-12 weeks, but ONLY ONE AT A TIME. Beginners welcome, enthusiasm and no smoking is all we ask - we will teach the rest, even English! Please check our calendar. Thanks for your interest in us, best wishes.
