Born and bred in Australia, my family is grown and I've flown the coop instead and recently bought a property in Hungary to convert into a Lodge/Inn.
I work online for income, am an avid traveler and desire to set up my 1/2 acre property to become a great little Inn/Lodge with 8 guest beds.

Do you have a few free weeks to get your hands (and the rest of you ) very dirty?
I am cleaning out, then renovating a 95 year old traditional type cottage in a 950 person village in northern Hungary from about the middle of April for a year or so.
The Deal is This...
I supply your food and a bed for the period of time with me...
You supply willing hands (complete with body and mind) for the time agreed to stay
I will meet you at the local train station and take you back upon completion of agreed time... if necessary
...and will pay your return train fares from Budapest to my place if you complete a full month of reno help
Conditions will be roughish, but that's what adventures are all about.
The place is sound inside, being renovated on the outside now, the attic is full of junk collected over 95+ years, so that will be fun scrounging thru and cleaning out piles of old village history and artifacts
Power, water are connected and functional, with complete new power wiring installed in November 2014, replacing the original 1919 wiring.
I now have the most awesome shower enclosure in Hungary...even with flashing lights and music.
A new septic tank(for the loo) is being installed later on and possibly won't be in working order upon arrival, but
I just had a brand new outside toilet built as of 15th May 2014.
I will cook your meals daily, unless you want to... do your washing and supply a nice clean bed for you.
Some of the Work expected to be carried out by all...
Mowing the cleaned up yard
Washing, then painting windows, walls, rubbing back old furniture to repaint
Sealing/undercoating and painting wooden surfaces, plus special treatment when painting mud bricks
Painters Tilers, Chippies (carpenters), sparkies needed now
Also anyone who can speak basic English, with experience working on mud brick houses would be awesome
Need a few doorways cut through the 15 inch mud brick walls now...
Pruning and cutting out or digging out shrubs around the place
Digging and edging a garden plot
Planting herbs and vegies
Getting very dirty
Having heaps of fun
Partaking of an odd beer or so after work finishes daily...the little shop that sells everything is 50 feet up the road!
Lots of home made goodies and great farm house meals
Feeling satisfied that you really have accomplished something worthwhile
Sleeping really well at night!
Basically, a lot of handy man type jobs to make the place sparkle and clean so basic reno work can begin in April 2015 for official opening in 2016...
Am needing painters, sparkies, tilers, plasterers, plumbers, chippies and cement rendering tradies!
The house is solid, so a private bed room is available.
As far as a cultural experience goes...I can only offer the experience of
an Aussie Granny in Hungary :)
There is a larger village, Tiszafured which is 8 klm away by bus, situated on Lake Tisza, with cycling, boating, bush walking, fishing etc.
Tiszafured, being a natural therapy spa town, has spa baths, a good train to Budapest every few hours, with frequent bus services from Tiszaigar (my village) to Tiszafured.
Tiszaigar is a village of approx 960 people, has basic shops etc and Tiszafured, a larger town, has a great SPA supermarket, builders co-op shop, PO, ATM'c, Banks, Solicitors, Doctors etc.
I would like to offer anyone helping get the property in ship-shape order for renovations after a 6 weeks work effort here, a complimentary week at the lodge when it's ready for it's higher end guests...but obviously, that is in the future and I can't deliver that now, but would love to give that if all goes to plan.
