    Description

Live with a brilliant and unique family with a whimsical and communal outlook on life and help us with building and developing our eco-tourism business in the amazing country of Belize.

Our Backpackers is a family-owned and operated hostel catering to fun and adventurous travelers from around the world. We have dorm beds with shared baths and private rooms with private baths. The hostel is located in downtown San Ignacio, the bustling and vibrant heart of the Cayo District of Belize, known for its amazing rivers and waterfalls, horseback riding, ATM cave tour, Maya archaeological sites, canoeing and much more. Fresh fruits and veggies abound in the market and San Ignacio is a great jumping off point to explore Tikal in Guatemala. Or a great pit stop on the way to Caye Caulker, a fantastic Caribbean island, where we also have another Backpackers.

As an extension of our hostel business we are building up a Backpackers Farm in the village of Cristo Rey on the banks of the mystical Macal River. The farm is ten acres and the main house needs some TLC to convert the structure into a hostel with dorm and private room space. The farm is only 4 miles outside of San Ignacio town and within a short collectivo ride to all the action in the town, but in a serene, private and beautiful rainforest setting on the river. Come help us build our dream and have fun too!

We will need help with cleaning up the property (mowing, clearing), upgrading plumbing and electrical, some carpentry, painting, and general renovation such as building beds and lockers. There is also ample land and opportunity to plant an organic garden, and creating a rainforest medicinal trail. We have some dogs and chickens that need daily care as well. Also, knowledge of online marketing is needed, and would be greatly appreciated.
