We are Monika and Fred and have recently joined forces in an effort to develop an organic farm/tourist destination in the wilderness of the West Chilcotin. Two dogs and a horse are enjoying life with us. The farm is very isolated in a small valley and borders the large Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. We are non-smokers nearing our 60th birthdays. We are developing 5 acres for organic seed potato and vegetable production and have built a greenhouse into the mountain side for vegetables requiring more heat. One log cabin is already nearly finished. We like to share our life out here with people who are interested in an experience of living in and with nature and yet enjoy some of nowadays comforts. The opportunities for work experience and wilderness adventure are endless.

We have been living and working here for the last 18 years. The property is set in 23 acres (9.25 hectares) and is made up of a hunting lodge, farmhouse and a rundown Porcherie. Jennifer is a catering manager in hospitality for a motor sport team, Malcolm is a working musician. Malcolm also works as a professional antique stove restorer, so there are always interesting architectural antiques about the place. We are both in our 50’s. Jennie has a wide repertoire in the kitchen and is quite happy to teach those that are willing. She can teach the following cuisines: Indian; French; Cordon Bleu and good old fashioned English country cooking. Jennie is also an excellent vegetarian cook. We have three adorable donkeys, three miniature black sheep, a flock of interesting breed chickens, a pond full of Indian runner ducks. We also have five cats. We have a productive veggie plot which helps to feed us throughout the year. We look upon our five acre landscaping project as a working canvas, so anyone interested in bringing fresh ideas would be most welcome. There are always ongoing projects that we need help with. Duties will include: gardening on the veggie plot; general gardening; hedging; wood chopping. Looking after the various animals, building work under supervision. We have a tractor, professional mower, a digger and a dumper all of which get constant use throughout the summer months! The property is in a rural location, 15 minutes from the nearest town. Situated on a quiet lane the house is within easy reach of Paray Le Monial, Marcigny and Roanne. Situated near two villages, both with thriving bar/restaurants offering local fare, the area is very peaceful. And the locals are very friendly! We have mountain bikes that you can use whilst you are here. If you like fishing, the Loire River is 5 minutes away by bike. We travel quite often looking for stoves, you would be welcome to come with us and see some of France. We are working hard to finish the accommodation for April which will consist of 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom. We’re hoping for a maximum of four people at the peak period in the summer Malcolm is professional rock/blues musicians, so musicians, bring your instruments you are welcome to come and jam!

On a smallholding overlooking the largest lake in Bulgaria we are attempting to be as self-sufficient as possible. We are hoping to increase our efforts this year. The area is fantastic for outdoor pursuits, wakeboarding and waterskiing and lots of mountain walking. We are currently looking to move to a more suitable small holding in the same area. This will mean an increase in livestock numbers and more patching up of ancient buildings. Loving this adventure.

English couple with 2 dogs. We normally accept helpers all year for a minimum of two weeks. Peaceful location in rural France. Projects include Eco Gardening, Plumbing, Carpentry, Plastering, Walling, Land Clearing, and building sheds for equipment. Always plenty to do around here and with 2 spare bedrooms and a caravan we are rarely full. There is loads of info on our website. We prefer non smoking helpers that are happy to live as part of the family during their stay, we would expect this to involve helping prepare meals and the inevitable clearing away afterwards. Helpers are sometimes asked to assist with household chores as part of their hours. We accept vegetarians but cannot cater for vegans. We accept both skilled or unskilled people. We need people able to work on their own initiative. We will show you how to do the job and provide the necessary equipment and protective clothing although you need your own footwear suitable for gardening and DIY. We offer plenty of opportunities to learn new skills. We have wireless internet available.

We are currently living in Blackall, a small country town in Central Western QLD & would love some help in the house & with the children. My parents who have a retail business and also a cattle station - so a bit of living out of a suitcase, as we are staying, helping with them.
