    Description

Goooood day my friend(s) !!! I am Sam and I am here to propose you something very very special !!!

I am looking for some people in order to create a new community in a very magnificent nature place. There is the possibility for a permanent living (with some conditions), but the first 6 months are a trying period to see if everything if working well :-) People who are interested to stay not permanently to try and experiment this way of life are welcome too... The minimum period of stay is 4 months...

    WHAT IS IT:

I have the chance to be the “owner” (oh ! the bad word :-)) of a big piece of land in a very amazing and preserved nature place. It is a small valley surrounded by forests with a small river and a flowered green grass meadow. Far from the human civilization, it is like a bubble outside of the world where something different is possible... Everyone who spent time here agreed it has something magical :-)

This land is a collective place for experimentation, for learning. I am not living on the land myself (but in a near village), and i like to propose to everyone interested to try her/his own experiment on this peaceful and preserved place.

So, it is absolutely not a workaway agreement. First, i will not be teaching or showing you (I will not even be living with you (but as neighbors we will see quite often of course :-))). So you need to be able to learn from yourself, from nature, from experimenting… Then and very important, I really don’t look for any help. My idea is to let you follow your ideas :-), it's a good idea isn't it ? ha ha..., So just let me know what is your project and then we can set things together so you have everything ready to start your own experiment :-)

WHY DO I PROPOSE THIS :

I have lived 4 years on the land on my own, hosting many people from all around the world. And then I started another project (I acquired an old house in a village and started renovating it) and even if I am not living on it anymore, I decided to let the land open to the people who’d like to spend some time on it…

I like the idea of having people staying and living on the land rather than letting it abandoned… It is a collective space where people can contribute to the community and experiment their ideas... It is a very special and magic place that can heal you, give you answers or just let you take a break in your life... And i like to share that with people who maybe need it...

    WHEN :

The next community will take place from spring 2017 (march-april) to fall 2017 (october-november). There is the possibility of staying during winter time (after a collective decision) but you will need to set up a proper warm living space. Dates can be flexible though depending on your schedule, the time you will need to do your project...

    WHERE :

It is located in the center of France, in la Creuse (Limousin). This part of France is a big piece of nature, no big cities, no traffic, no pollution, just old farmers, plants and animals; it is very peaceful and beautiful...

CONDITIONS : (hey, of course there are conditions, sexists and xenophobes are not accepted here, sorry guys…)

    - To agree with using (almost) only what is already on the land to build things (stones, wood, dirt, sand,…) in order to preserve nature and be 100% ecological. Electric/petrol tools are allowed though but should be used with discernment… Recycled materials are accepted if not polluting…
    - To be able to lead your own project without anybody telling you what to do (nobody will be supervising anything, you do your own thing as you want, when you want, how you want… We will discuss your project at first together but then after that I will just be like a neighbor, interested in what you are doing but not having my word to say (except if I see that your project can affect negatively the place, others, animals or nature, but that shouldn’t happen unless you want to build a big cinderblock wall with nuclear radiative sand :-)…))
    - To be autonomous, independent, open minded and tolerant with other’s differences (the land is a collective place, friends, family and visitors are welcome, can be there and share time with you, but the land is big and it is very easy to have time alone in the forest if you are not feeling like being with the group)
    - To be in good physical and mental condition (living outdoor in the forest request some strength and resistance). It is important you know yourself and are aware of your own limits and capacity.
    - You need to bring an idea, a dream, a project (can be whatever, build bedroom, a meditation space, create a spiral medicinal flower garden, just something you really want to do … Be realisitic but inventive, you can do it on the ground, in the trees, underground !…)
    - To be talented with manual work, have knowledge and experience with tools, techniques of gardening or auto/eco-construction. People with no experience are encouraged to try first within a team (other workaway project) before coming (reality is often quite different from what you can imagine or read in books, experience is the only real way to learn something…).

WHAT IS ON THE LAND ALREADY:

    - Dry compost toilets
    - Two big shelters (no walls, just the roof) as working and storing spaces
    - Two small shelters (with walls and doors) for tools and things that needs to be protected from humidity (if you bring music instruments or fragile tools that's a place you can use)
    - One big collective area (30 m²), metal roof, wood walls, but not insolated yet!!! (can do it if you want :-)) There is a collective kitchen with all the cooking tools you may need, a gas stove (but then gas bottles need to be bought collectively… wood cooking is possible if organized together, and money free :-)), tables and chairs, a cosy living room with couches and an old wood cooker...
    - A traditional carpentry made bathroom (not finished yet, can be a project !!!)
    - Two green houses (plastic tunnels) for tomatoes and exotic plants…
    - Several big gardens (that will be yours) for growing your own veggies (gardens can be collective or individual, or a bit of both, there is enough space for every collective or personal experiment...)
    - Wild nature and animals (please don't disturbe them as much as possible...)
    - A coop (that needs to be fixed) where you can have chickens or ducks if you want
    - Some basic gardening tools and few very simple diy tools (bring your tools if you have some !!!)
    - A small beautiful river to bath in and collect some water
    - A big stone made fire place with benches around (to play music, sing and dance together, hurray !!!)
    - More than 100 fruit trees (apples, pears, cherries, apricots, peaches, grapes, etc...), all from old local varieties, but most of them are still too small to give fruits (planted 4 years ago maximum)
    - A lot of berries (red and white currant, black currant cassis, raspberries (red, yellow,...), strawberries (wilde and domesticated), blueberries, blackberries, Goji berries, ...
    - A lot of medicinal plants, aromatics and flowers
    - No electricity (some generators are available but you will need to buy and put petrol in it if you decide to use them… Very small solar panels allow some light at night in the collective space...)
    - No hot water yet (there is a river were you can take water and then let it warm with the sun, or just shower in the fresh water if you like it...), building a real efficient solar shower would be a very useful project to do…
    - No cars, no motors, no engine (the land is 1 km away from the road and the small trail that goes to it is absolutely not practicable by car…)
    - Natural construction materials (stones and sand in the river, wood from the forest, dirt, ...) and some recycled materials (windows, doors, metal pieces, planks, etc…). If you come with a personal car you can even find more in the dumpsters…
    - Some cans and conserves of food from the garden production (year 2015 and 2016) left for you by the inhabitants that were living there before you... It is a gift from them. Maybe you will do the same for the people after you ? :-)

    HOSTING CONDITIONS:

    - You need to bring your own sleeping space (a tent, a yurt, a caravan, or just a hammock :-)), building small sleeping room in the forest is very welcome. A big collective dormitory could be a good idea to…
    - The life and spaces are organized collectively. Everybody is equal and so the community self-organizes for everything. Decisions are based on consensus. I will be here for the first meetings but then let it self-evolve regarding to the different members of the community.
    - I am not providing any food or money to the community. You have to organize collectively to buy, trade or produce your own food and goods. There are already several big gardening spaces on the land. So if the community take care enough of it, you can be veggies autonomous…
    - Everything planted on the land benefit to the community (fruits, berries, …) but need to be taken care of (water, weed, mulch,…) VERY IMPORTANT : by coming you take the commitment to take care of the land (for the community you will be living with but also thinking about the next generations). Technically, I am expecting from the community to weed and mulch the plants that need it (aromatics, flowers, small fruits trees, berries, etc...) otherwise the wild plants around can cover them and kill them…, in case of dry summer, to water the plants that need it (so that they don’t die), take care of the buildings/constructions in a responsible way (fixe it when something break, improve things , ...) Actually and in general, just be respectful of the place and the work that has been done previously...

    FACILITIES:

There is a public library 4 km far with internet access, a post office, a supermarket (but not the best food ever…), a bar/restaurant, a pharmacy. There is no washing machine (what about building one with an old bike!!!), bring your own hand wash soap (but natural and organic please !!!).

    LIFE EXCHANGE:

I hope your project will work as you plan. But even if it doesn’t, it is not necessary a bad thing. Learning is the aim of life. And I hope your time on this place that taught me so much will be a positive step in your life to. I also hope you will meet amazing people and make friends, and enjoy this incredible area of the universe…

WHAT YOU CAN/NEED TO BRING :

    - Your sleeping space (a tent or a small caravan, a yurt, etc...) and personal items (electric torch, medicine, solar panels to charge your electronic devices, etc...)
    - Everything you need to be autonomous and independent on a wild land (except for cooking, there is the collective kitchen)
    - Seeds (if you plan on growing veggies in the garden), there are already some harvested from the last years’ gardens, but new seeds are always welcome…
    - Specific tools you already have and will need for your project…
    - Music instruments, art, medicinal devices, games, books, etc...

I guess that's already a lot of information at once :-) So just... If you feel this place is calling you, then just send me a message, there is much more we need to talk about :-) !!!

Thanks for reading, take a very good care of you,

    Peace

    Sam
