    Description

We own and run a 5 acre estate at Kadagadal village.

The five acre property was acquired by us in Kadgadal village seven kilometres east of Madikeri Town, Kodagu(Coorg). The property comprises of three acres of Coffee, Pepper and Cardamom plantation and about two acres of partially dense forest.

Our primary goal is to preserve the biodiversity of the forest covered land and not use this part for revenue purposes.

Tourism increasing by almost 100% in Madikeri the past year, and accommodation at a premium, we decided to construct some cottages in a small naturally cleared area.

A small euro cafe is also envisaged in the vicinity which would be welcome by foreigners visiting Coorg.

Our aim is to provide an eco-friendly, decent accommodation with sufficient amenities and service to our guests. We also aim to conserve energy, water and recycle whatever waste collected. Being in the midst of a forest, our small estate will be an exclusive getaway for the eco-conscience traveller. A small creek runs besides the forested area and is a part of the estate.

The estate, at the present state, yields about hundred and fifty kilograms of Coffee, some Cardamom, Pepper and Honey. Earth worm manure can be produced for sale. A small nursery with about 2000 plants is to be developed. Anthoriums and mushrooms can be cultivated for sale.

We have tried to keep and maintain the estate organically . We hope it is possible to completely convert the estate to an organic one in coming years.

We have an incomplete homestay project on our estate and need help completing it. We have constructed 5 cottages already and the roofing is complete. 2 rooms are ready for guests to accommodate.

We need help finishing the cottages, doing the landscaping(including walk ways and sitouts), completing the toilets, caring for the coffee, looking after estate from picking beans to weeding and tidying up the estate.

We would like to use innovative ideas and different concepts to make the entire retreat complete

We have two small sources of water - a creek by the estate and a spring in the estate . Some method of harnessing some water for drier days would also be welcome.

All in all, the estate needs more attention than we are able to give it now...

We would like volunteers to also help us with Gardening, Landscaping, Coffee picking(seasonal), Pepper picking(seasonal), Guest Room Maintenance, Service(if room is occupied), Animal care, etc. Other skills and talents are welcome if there is an opportunity to use them.

We have closed our restaurant in Madikeri and there are no opportunities in that regard.
