Área: Poitou CharentesWe are a young (mid 50's) retired English couple who through an act of folly (which we still laugh about) own a 25 metre high historic Lime Kiln with several outbuildings. We have lived here for just over 4 years and still have many ongoing projects both in the garden and in the home. Located between the Loire Valley and the Dordogne, outside of a small hamlet, nearest shops 5km, within walking distance of local bar (bikes supplied). We have a large veggie area with raised beds which have produced excellent crops. Our home is shared with a small dog, who is very friendly. Gillian breeds chickens, so we get to enjoy fresh eggs and meat. The accommodation on offer is a caravan or tent, and have meals with us. We provide breakfast and 2 home cooked meals a day served with wine/beer. Wifi available. This in exchange for help 27 hours a week Mon-Thu (10-4.30 (Fri 10-4) with 1 hour for lunch. In addition to the hours you may be asked to assist with washing up after our evening meal (or just stacking the dishwasher!). For the experienced abseiller, there is removing creeper from the 25 meter kiln wall (abseiling equipment provided) and then repointing. We look forward to you joining us on our epic journey in restoring the property. We are happy to provide transport to and from the property within reason e.g Bressuire (30 minutes away), Parthenay or Thouars. Área: VictoriaWe are a family of five - Cath Hazel and Oscar Spike Stewart - . Two teenage boys and a younger daughter. We love to travel but find it hard to leave our lovely home, so we invite travelers into our lives instead. We live in Fryers Forest in Central Victoria. You can get here by catching a train from Melbourne to Castlemaine, a 1.5 hour trip and we will pick you up from the station. We love food, especially if it is locally grown and produced. Preferably organic! An intentional community. An eco village that accommodates 32 individuals ranging in age from 12 months to 83 years. We have a lake stocked with fish and an orchard of cherries, apples, etc. The communally owned eucalypt forest is 330 acres. A forest that is slowly healing itself after 150 years of abuse.
Área: Kathamandu - Dallu awas (near Monkey Temple)Access to education is not granted to every child in Nepal. Our team aims at providing a partial remedy to that unfortunate situation by offering proper nutrition, a comfortable lodging and a tuition to children from the Ganesh and Lantang area at no cost to the family. Even though our government has made significant progress in the last decade to build new schools throughout the country, the lack of formal teachers in many rural districts of Nepal is a major obstacle for children to access education. On that matter, the Ganesh and the Langtang regions – about 120 km north of Kathmandu – have not been favored. Only a small fraction of the children can buy their places in the few schools that have been established. We are presently hosting five children, all coming from different families, in the hope of giving them a chance to have a better future and, at the same time, fulfilling their parent’s most sacred wish. Our organization lives on donations from individual sponsors and your help, even if not pecuniary, is of great worth to us and to the children. Being away from their family undoubtedly affects the children, but knowing that some people care for them and put great efforts in their success is of an invaluable comfort. Everyone staying with us will experience the Nepalese culture, will have the opportunity to learn a little bit of the language and get a glimpse of the lifestyle and the traditions of Nepal. You will also be able to build your own judgement regarding Nepal's education system. We provide a safe environment to the children and to the volunteers in order for them to fully appreciate their stay.
