Area: OntarioMy husband and I have a 6 acre property near Guelph, Ontario. We live here with our 3 dogs and 2 cats. We both work full time and can't always find time to complete all our projects.
Area: Midi PyreneesHappy Coulson is a pilgrim's rest on the Way of St James pilgrim route in the Haute-Pyrénées in France. Kate also teaches yoga classes in French and English. We are always starting new projects, improving and updating our accommodation, and we love having workawayers to help us work and play. After the busy summer season, autumn is time for us to start new projects. We will be finishing our new rooms and creating a whole complex of workshops and sheds in the garden (but maybe we're alone in getting excited about that...). Future plans include a studio in our barn for yoga/creative writing holidays. We are a family of four (kids aged 8 and 6) who moved from Norfolk, England in July 2012. We work hard while the children are at school but we also play hard so please come with sense of humour intact. We have a dog, four cats, five chickens, two rabbits and soon-to-have two pigs. We also have a rampant potager (veg patch) and want to grow as much fruit as veg as we can. The house and land are beautiful but there is a lot of work to be done. We have found our ideal jobs but on our own it will take too long. That's why we need you!
Area: AquitaineI live in Riberac a market town of about 4000 people in the Dordogne area of France. I am English but grew up in Vancouver, Canada and San Francisco in the US. I am an artist and spend most of my days painting. I also have had a stall at the Riberac market, selling paintings of chickens, for 5 years. My home is a 3 floor 4 - 5 bedroom house made up of 4 smaller houses and is around 160 years old. I am just a 5 minute walk to the town centre which is teeming with tourists in the summer months and has bars, restaurants, a cinema and anything else you might need. There are many artists in the area, exhibitions all summer, the Baroque Festival in June, lots of music events and easy public transport to other interesting places. Things settle down in the winter but we still find lots to do and stay busy. I live here with my two West Highland Terriers and one cat. I am also partially disabled due to an illness a couple of years ago so need some help with my small garden, some minor house repairs and moving some heavy things. I look forward to meeting some new people, am a pretty good cook and won't be breathing down your neck to get things done!

Area: The Loire ValleyHello there! We are an Irish-American family living in the heart of the Loire Valley. Porter hails from Alabama originally and Louise is from the West of Ireland. We have two daughters, Emily (almost 5) and Olivia (almost 2) and our newborn son, James (born August 2014). Our background is in Art: Art History, Fine Art, Photography and Restoration and we are passionate about old things! Our house is a renovated 17th century farmhouse (originally fortified) complete with origianal arrow-slits! We have recently purchased the old butcher shop in our village and are looking for volunteers to help us turn the premises into apartments and an antique shop. Over the years, we have ammassed quite a collection of 'things' and are in need of some strong arms and organised minds to help us move objects from our storage units to the new warehouse/shop. We may also need some help with general maintenance/gardening and babysitting. Ideally, a fun, dynamic couple would be our ideal 'help' solution. We envisage a maximum of 5hrs per day per person, 4-5days per week. Our house is located just 200meters from the Loire river and the region is an absolute haven for nature lovers, cyclists and history enthusiasts. We live within minutes drive/cycle from many of the major Loire Valley castles including the medieval chateau of Langeais, the chateau d'Usse (otherwise known as the 'Sleeping Beauty' castle), the Renaissance chateau of Azay-le-Rideau and the medieval fortress and town of Chinon. We can supply bicycles and canoes to our volunteers so that they can enjoy exploring the region in their free time and use of a car as necessary.
