Area: GuardaWe are a self sufficient, Permaculture Eco- project in the making in Portugal. This project is just starting! we are now in the process of building the round Eco straw bale house and also start planting the new food forest! And still many other things to do! From the 14th of July until the first of August 2014 AND from the 5th until the 14th of September we open our doors. Agreements for volunteering in Atlantisya Summer 2014: We are a new project and we appreciate helping hands and positive people to assist our project in becoming something amazing! We like to clarify what we are looking for in a volunteer (WWOOFer, HelperX, Workaway etc.), and what are our guidelines for visiting us. By agreeing before you visit us, we know both what we are up to. Feel and read before visiting us the following points if they resonate with you. 1. We are looking for people that love to work and have the energy, power and health for this. Important is to handle heat, intensive sun, as well as fresh nights. You will be walking up and down the hill and carrying things. Especially handy people or people with knowledge and experience in building, gardening and working in general are very welcome. 2. Volunteers have camping experience and like to be in wild nature surrounded by all living things without fear, using shower bags, temporary eco toilets etc. We do not have Internet on Atlantisya and there is only limited mobile reception. We are pretty much off-grid, however if needed 10 minutes away from a town Pinhel. There are some wild animals, but none really dangerous. We ask for all personal products to be ecological and environmental friendly. 3. We prepare vegan/vegetarian food three times a day and two times (herbal) tea with snacks. In the morning we offer fruits and porridge, for lunch big salads, bread, cheese and dinner a big pot with vegetable, beans, lentils, pasta/rice/couscous, potatoes etc. We try as much as we can to offer within our budget and limited shopping possibilities various and healthy food, prepared with love. All other consumption is for own responsibility and costs. Any allergies and/or medicine usage need to be known with us in advance. 4. We do not stimulate addictions like coffee, black tea, alcohol and smoking. But none of them we forbid for volunteers as we have our own responsibilities for our health. However, we do not allow cannabis on Atlantisya and for your own health and safety you are asked to be in full awareness during work, not under influence of any stimulating substance (such as alcohol, cannabis or other drugs). We are operating ‘heavy machinery’! 5. The daily schedule on Atlantisya is the following that counts 5 to 5,5 hours in total: 08:00 Breakfast. 09:00 start work until 12:30 With tea/snack break around 11:00 13:00 lunch From 15:00 continue work until 17:30 With tea/snack break around 16:30 Around 19:00 dinner. We have 1 day or 2 half a days free. Please communicate with us about this. Work includes filling up water bottles and shower bags with water and once a while doing dishes. 6. Once you concluded with us your dates and length of staying and are clear about your arrival and departure, we really count on you and include you in our planning for food and work. If you tell us later on (when you are already in Atlantisya) you leave earlier, we ask for extra donation. This depends on the amounts of days you leave earlier. If you wish to work less hours per day or more days off, we ask for extra donation for the food as well. Please let us know that you come and go at least a week in advance and if you need a pick up somewhere. 7. Volunteers coming with children pay per day 2,50 euros per day per child and a little extra donation for 1 parent for the food as we have the experience not all parents can work at the same time. Also we ask for the parents to take all needed things for the child/baby such as snacks and extra foods, toys, cleanings products etc. 8. If you like your laundry to be done, we charge 4 euro per laundry Extra costs are: pick up/drop off from/to trainstation Vila Franca das Naves: 7 euros, bus station Guarda: 15 euros, drive from Atlantisya to Pinhel (nearest town where there is Internet and supermarket): 4 euros. We have three little tents (for 1-2 persons) and 1 bigger tent (for 3 or 4 persons) we can share with you if you cannot bring your own tent. Also we have a one person matrass and two two-person matrasses. And there are 3 sleeping bags and several little pillows available. When you need all camping equipment (tent, matrass, sleeping bag and cushion) we charge 5 euro altogether per person. However, if you can, please bring your own things, so we always have some spare materials left just in case. Of course, when you borrow these items, please take good care of them! And also in this case, let us know in advance if you need to borrow anything. 9. Recommended packing: - Camping stuff, incl. flashlight. - Sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, long shirt) - Working clothes, if possible your own gloves. - Good shoes and slippers - Towels - If you like your own cup or water bottle, fork and spoon - Ecological soaps, toothpaste etc. - Optional: your own snacks and supplements - Waste bag for in your tent. - Anti-Mosquito (and other first aid supplies you prefer) –we have first aid packages for emergencies. - Long trousers (thin), shorts, t-shirt/top as well as warm sweater, socks. - For women: ecological pads/tampons (for own disposal) or cotton pads/mooncup. 10. You can think of the following working tasks during your stay: - Camp maintenance (depending on the amount of people and not priority) such as doing dishes, cleaning up, filling up the water bottles and shower bags. - Clearing bushes and levelling the ground to make better pathways - Putting little rocks along the roads and other creative things - Taking care of and watering the fruit trees, berry bushes and other plants and gardens (and helping making new ones) - Depending on the current process of the house construction, there may be some other little tasks to do for finishing the house. - If possible with enough people who have building skills: creating more advanced eco-toilets and upgrading the things as they are now - For short times –if you like- sitting and watching baby Adam, so mommy can also work a little bit (this is really an easy and nice task!) - And in general we can always use help in making Atlantisya more organized. Any creative input that is possible in the amount of time and money is welcome after communicating with us. - If there is more we will let you know. Please communicate about donations, questions and other issues with Lumeria. Also share with us during your stay when you feel tired or not well. We hope you understand as well that we are not having a holiday and need to work every day and take care of a baby. We are not a hotel, nevertheless, we try to make the best stay for you as we can! See you this summer in Atlantisya! The Atlantisya- Familia: Yacov Kabael, Myrtle Lumeria and Baby Adam Ajael. And all the other habitants that live in the nature.
Area: Palma de MallorcaWe need help caring for my 70+ year old mother, Christine. She is German and has lived in Palma for 10+ years. My wife and I live with my mother on the top floor, close to the cathedral, in a quiet street in the old town of Palma. We also have a well behaved 6kg jack russell dog. Christine is terminally ill and can not leave the bed any longer. She just started walking again and can now walk to the bathroom, but she still wears adult diapers. We need help days & evenings. We are a non-smoking, very laid back family, open to communication and enjoy living in a clean, quiet, and respectful home. We ask the same from you. We are very social and enjoy having friends over or going out for drinks, meals, excursions, etc. You are always welcome to join us (during non-working hours, of course!). Christine is a nice and very creative woman who loves to talk about her life and all things in general. If you appreciate art, you will find many of her works throughout our home.
