    Description

We are based on 185 acres in the Hunua Ranges, only 45 minutes South of Auckland City. We have enjoyed having volunteers stay with us for over 10 years now and have just recently discovered the workawayers website. We are always happy to host hard working fun easy going people for various tasks to do both on and off the farm. We run a mobile adventure activity business often traveling away for jobs for community events, teambuilding and school events which means you may get the opportunity to travel to new places around New Zealand meet the locals & taste their fare.

Our farm backs onto the stunning Hunua Regional Park & Falls with ARC walking tracks on our doorstep so there is plenty to see do and explore from our location.

We are working towards setting up the farm as an eco tourism operation to showcase our beautiful & picturesque landscape & environment and ideally would like workawayers who are used to physically demanding work as we have lots of manual tasks to do on the farm including planting, fencing, gorse cutting (granddaddy gorse :) !) painting & planting etc..

Any body who has previous childcare, building or activity instructing/coaching experience/skills eg Camp America & is physically fit & active with english as their first language will get priority as that is what is most helpful to us.

We love meeting people from around the world and appreciate all the help they do for us on our farm and for our business. Thats why we like to show them around our country and ensure they have a great time getting to know the kiwi way of life and often offer our appreciation by the way of special trips to the hot pools, a picnic at the top of the falls and the like.

We also have camper vans park & stay most nights who also use our "Common" room" which is setup with a pool table, library, TV (with NZ/KIWI movie dvd's), kitchen & bar area so if you get bored with us you can always hang here :)

PS THE FILM WITHOUT A PADDLE WAS ACTUALLY FILMED ON THE BACK OF OUR FARM AT THE TOP OF THE HUNUA FALLS. The farm also backs onto 600,000 acres of virgin NZ bush which is absolutely stunning with access to multiple ARC Parks Walking tracks to dams as Hunua is one of Aucklands water catchment areas.

We have recently brought back the family farm and improving it so we can run an adventure tourism operation. Duties would include painting, weeding, gorse cutting, fence maintenance eg taking off old battens & replacing with new ones. Hay making, planting trees etc... As we also now take in campers and started renting, duties may also include cleaning windows, vacuuming rooms, cleaning & taking out rubbish.

We cant think of a better way to wake up than to look out of your tree top cabin (Nicknamed by a workawayer) to 100+ acres of greenery and the Hunua Ranges. Accommodation is cabin style with shared bathroom facilities. We have just moved on a relocatable building /house and would be great to have someone with some carpentry /maintenance/building experience to lend a hand to put on a deck.

We prefer workawayers who may also have experience working with children, coaching or lifesaving, teaching etc... who also want to have the opportunity to travel & work in our adventure Business (for which we pay workawayer $ but must have a holiday working visa and speak english as their first language) and want to spend at least 3 weeks to 3 months with us as you become part of our family & we spend time training you. So if you have a positive attitude to life, are outgoing & friendly, sense of humor, able to get up early in the morning (sometimes we have 5.00 am starts but normally 8.00 am) physically strong & active and not afraid to get your hands dirty we would love to have you.

You can expect 3 good meals a day shared with the other helpers and host family and lots of fun time, we often like to end our day at the local hot springs or go for a swim in our mini waterfall on the farm.

We are 45 minutes from Auckland airport and you can catch a train into Auckland from Papakura which is 15 mins drive away from the farm so although when you are out here you can get lost in clean green New Zealand, you have very easy access to enjoy what is happening in the city with the Hunua Ranges Auckland Regional Park & Hunua Falls right on our doorstep with walking & cycling trails . Lots to do and see out here. Having a car would be a good idea, but most people dont and its never a problem we are happy to help you out where we can and drop/pick you up from the local transport stations. We are also only a 35 minute drive from Maraetai Beach or the Miranda Hot Springs.
