Arbeiten in einer Reitschule! Bay of Plenty, Neuseeland
Beschreibung
**We could do with ONE volunteer from the 15th of March onwards. MUST be experienced with horses and a capable rider. Must be able to stay for a minimum of 4 weeks.**
We are a farming family, have been milking 140 cows for the last 20 years. We wanted to do something different so sold the cows and bought 7 horses. We are now a riding school and a trail riding centre, also organizing horse camps at different times of the year to different places.
We also run our small Farmstay so that's keeping us busy too.
You get to help us with different jobs from maintenance to horse work, to cleaning hostel( maintenance) and cleaning tack, also assisting in trail rides and horse camps.
Our sons are all grown up and left home . In the holidays some of them come home, others are overseas.
We have a panoramic view over the islands, ocean, hills and bush.
We have a 9.1 m swimming pool for use in your free time in the summer and a river swimming hole 10 min walk way.
We prefer NON smokers as some of us suffer from Asthma, so please, NON SMOKERS ONLY.( it also pollutes the air and your body and ours)

Work is different all the time, depending on the time of the year. In the summer there are a lot of riding camps, so helping saddling up horses, assisting with riding lessons. We also have 2 dogs . We also have some cattle.
House work, laundry, changing sheets and cleaning the hostel , is part of your job.
We do not cater for vegetarians or vegans, but if you do want to come you must supply and cook your own food in the hostel, but anyway if you work MORE than 5 hours per day( unlikely) we will supply the evening meal. So be prepared to cook own food.( mostly)
Same for normal diet, if you work 3 hours or less we don't supply meals but you can buy and cook your own food in the hostel and you can buy food at the local grocery store 5 km from here. That doesn't mean you don't get invited over for a meal but it won't be all the time. I hope you understand.
You get 1 or 2 days off per week, in which we or you can go to the surf beach which is 15 km from here. Or see other attractions in the area. ( I often take our volunteers on one surprise trip) We offer 2 bicycles for free to use.
We trail ride over 450 acres dairy farm land and through a 120 acre pineforest and cross a small river with crystal clear water, also great for swimming..
So come and spend some time with us , we prefer 3 weeks minimum as it takes about 2 weeks to get to know all the names of the horses and the other work routines.
PLEASE NOTE INTERNET IS NOT FOR FREE. IT WILL COST YOU $10- PER WEEK ON WIRELESS OR OUR PC. WE ARE ONLY ON A VERY LIMITED GB DOWNLOAD.( WE ARE IN THE COUNTRY)
THE RIDING SCHOOL IS CLOSED FROM MID JUNE TILL MID OCTOBER. WE WOULD ONLY NEED HELP WITH CLEANING FOR THIS TIME.

We are ex dairy farmers, we have our own beef/cattle for meat. We know this meat is safe and organic, grass fed beef.
We have teenage sons at home during school holidays so sometimes you are invited to have dinner with us but not always.
If you want to learn HOW to ride a horse, you have to pay the normal tuition fee like everyone else. We can teach you how to ride in our outdoor arena. I also teach how to jump. Normal fees apply for this.($25- per lesson, 1 hour)
Also the treks to the beach where it involves taking the horses in the truck a charge applies of $35- because of road user charges and diesel.

Jeremy and Emily are the most amazing workers that I have ever had. They stayed with us for 4 weeks on our riding school and farm. They know where the work is and go for it. They are always on the look out for new projects and things to do while on our farm. They made 7 jumps in our forest, Jeremy put in a rubber floor/mat in our horse truck and more
This was a great place to stay on our first trip to New Zealand. Marianna has beautiful horses and a wonderful farm-stay. She was very generous is showing us new experiences in her adopted country, especially the trip Matakana Island. I recommend that if you are staying try to go on the trip, you won't regret it. Lakes Ranch is also another great more

It was a petite stay, it's a small Hostel, very charming embedded in the gentle Hills around Kati Kati.
In wintertime it can be bad weather, nothing to do with horses or tourists. In this time it will be good you have a car to buy food, visit some other place or have a cup of coffee in village.
Make sure that you are a "workawayer" not from more

Christine was a pleasure to have with us. Very friendly, and super good worker, saw what needed to be done and did it. But it was winter and a lot of rain so sometimes it was boring for Christine so I sent her to the museum down the road which she enjoyed and later on in the week my husband took her out hiking in the bush. Overall it was great more
I've spent almost two months here with Marianna and Brian and family and it's been wonderful. They have a lovely farm setting with 6 good horses, one I particularly like...Snoopy and there's plenty of time to ride. The chores are minimal and flexible. Marianna is always coming up with activities which may be an evening ride and swim on the beach more
I would definitely recommend a visit to Marianna and Brian. I had THE most amazing time with them. I really felt like part of the family and fell in love with all the horses. I miss amber (one of their dogs) and all the horses. It is so wonderful to have been able to visit them.
Marike was fantastic at the work we provided, and made some very good work initiatives for our riding clients, which is very helpful for our future workaway volunteers. Apart from that she put her hand to everything that came acrross her work here, including riding our horses, leading the trail rides and assisting in general house hold chores. She more
