Área: Poitou CharentesEnglish couple with 2 dogs. We normally accept helpers for a minimum of two weeks. Peaceful location in rural France. We are be looking for help with building a shed, laying paths and decking, decorating, carpentry and gardening. We are non smoking and are seeking helpers that do not smoke. Helpers should be happy to live as part of the team during their stay, we would expect this to involve helping prepare meals and the inevitable clearing away after. We accept vegetarians but cannot cater for vegans. We do not accept smokers. We accept both skilled or unskilled people. We need people able to work on their own initiative. We will show you how to do the job and provide the necessary equipment and protective clothing although you need your own footwear suitable for outside work. We have wireless internet available. The countryside around here is mostly gentle slopes with a few hills it is good for rides out on our bikes at the end of the day and weekends. If you fancy a gentle walk our dogs Kain and Livvy would love to join you. Our nearest town is St Maixent L'Ecole it is a historic garrison town worth an afternoon wandering around its old streets. It also houses a military museum within the national NCO college.
Área: CaliforniaWe are accepting work-traders for the month of May. Currently we have openings for May 5, 2014-May 19, 2014 We are a small farm in the steep hills outside of Jackson CA. Permaculture ethics and principles guide our practices. We have a strong desire to learn through experience and implement these discoveries on a daily basis. We are 100% off grid, using wood and solar energy for heating of space and water. Photovoltaic systems create 100% of our power. We use spring fed hydraulic pumps to irrigate a 2 acre garden and orchard on a steep terraced ridge. We are looking for helpers to stay for two weeks or longer. The minimum stay is 10 days. We produce about 80% of the food we eat which means we cannot always accommodate dietary restrictions. We are located in the central Sierra Nevada Foothills. We are close to rock climbing, kayaking, hiking and river experiences. Our core group here works to manifest a sustainable path which sometimes does not leave much time for recreation. As some have said, "we get after it and take care of business enjoying every moment". Farm Activities: terracing, gardening, orchard care, llama, hugelkultur bed creation, irrigation, vegetable and fruit harvest, construction, beekeeping, honey extraction, educational workshops, mushroom cultivation, plant propagation, cooking, cleaning, fun, enjoyment, learning, sharing, etc... Área: North Rhine WestphaliaI try to live a spiritual and more alternative life including daily meditation. I try to take my food out of the land and I am also a practicing freegan. I live in a very old small Village 50 km south west of Cologne. Nearly 4 years ago I decided to leave the big city life, to start a more natural way of being. My place is a little ancient farm with a very beautiful land containing a little stream, source, fishponds, little forest, vegetable garden... even if it’s still chaotic and messy I love this tiny piece of earth. For one year I have run this place alone and so i really appreciate helping hands. The jobs are varied and diverse, From finishing the summer kitchen (with straw bales and clay), building the bread oven, constructing of a small garden house, help in the veggie garden, working on the fishponds, building stone walls, renovating the 400 year old farmhouse, help in the kitchen, help me with my two amazing little daughters who are living spare time with me, building a new barn, help in the violin workshop...in fact changing chaos into paradise. I try to use as much as possible ecological materials like sheep wool isolation, clay walls, wood frame constructing, stone walls...... For me as host it’s not simply looking for helping hands, I like to share my house, lifestyle, dreams, knowledge and enjoying the time together. I like to cook together, singing round the campfire and all this hippi stuff. I have already had more than 70 workawayers, helpers and woofers, and my experience shows me that I prefer People above 21, who have no problems with breakfast at 9:00, and see themselves as open minded, spiritual, Rainbow people, colourful, easy going... About my self: I am a Master Violin Maker and Music therapist i have a love for ancient methods and skills and try to grow my vegetables in a biodynamic, permaculture style including the rhythm of the moon. Further i am busy with different natural and shamanic healing and tantric traditions. I love making music, joining rainbow gatherings,.... Living here is very basic. Depending on the number of helpers it can happen that you have to share a room with other workawayers Workaway for me, is a great opportunity to invite the world to my little place and to help me realise my dream of a more sustainable life. Without all the helping hands i wouldn’t be able. It’s for me a matter of sharing and I really like to host people.
Área: Midi PyreneesHi, We are a family of five: Nick, Kath & 3 children (Amber 10, Jacob 8 & Gracie 7 years old) with 3 dogs and a cat. We moved to France 4 years ago and we are refurbishing a sprawling country property, with a number of buildings and large grounds of 6+ hectares which we would like to share with new people who can help us a little. We are a youngish, fun loving, relaxed family who enjoy the company of others and love to meet new people. Saint Clar is located in the Gers which is beautiful, sunny and very accessible to Toulouse/Bordeaux, the Pyrenees and Spain. A great place to explore SW France!
