Area: Midi PyreneesI live, with my two teenage children, in one of the most beautiful areas of France, where time has stopped at its best. Mas Sarrat is the ideal place to escape the hassle and frustrations of modern living and get life back into perspective. We are an English family and speak English at home - although we can all speak French! We have a wonderfully varied and exciting lifestyle in our lovely old farmhouse, but there never seems enough time to keep it quite as lovely as I'd like. I'm kept busy working as a part-time chef, translator, looking after my two holiday cottages and being a Mum! I am looking for help in the garden and around the home, throughout the year. From April to the end of September I am looking for help preparing the holiday cottages, hosting clients and children, looking after pets as well as gardening, catering, general sorting and administration help too!
Area: SabahOrchard Free camping and prepared meals in exchange for your help to clear/clean a land, set-up an orchard and organic garden on an old abandoned beach side coconut plantation.
Area: BavariaHi We are family Mitchell; Peter and Silka, Leonard 11, Edgar 8 and Erik 1.5, 17 chickens, 2 ducks, 4 rabbits and a guinea pig. After twelve years of living in east London, we decided the time was right for a complete change in lifestyle and some 'fresh air'! So here we are living in a remote village by the wild woods of Ober Franken or Upper Franconia, northern Bavaria. A decision also prompted by the arrival of a new member of the family in Nov 2011. Erik was born in London but won’t remember much as he was only there for 40 days! We moved to the area one and half years ago and our dream is to turn this dilapidated farm into an exciting and stimulating creative arts centre. It's a fairly big task, which is why we're looking for help and enthusiasm. We have about 3 acres of garden and woods with five buildings in various states of condition. We're looking for help reconstructing a very large and beautiful old timber barn. Other jobs include taking the boys to the pool, clearing the small beck, clearing trees from the woods and much more... If you're interested then we're the 'green heart' on the satellite image of the village: Weissenbach. Here are a few photos to help describe the place. The area has a large scale about it, huge wild forests, rolling hills and ruggedly beautiful landscapes. Weissenbach is a small active village (approx 120 inhabitants) situated at the end of the road, so there is no through traffic. The area beyond is forest and fields, other than the Buddhist monastery, which is about a 30-minute walk through the woods. We are an open minded, well travelled family who love to work hard, eat well and have fun and we would like to offer volunteers the same in a beautiful place with clear air and a wonderful array of bird song. We have bicycles to lend for fantastic on and off-road cycling, including a lovely cycle path to the historic town of Kulmbach, famous for the Plassenberg Castle and the largest tin soldier collection in the world! We're surrounded by wonderful woodland walks and there's a great outdoor swimming pool with huge slide etc, nestled in the valley about a 20 minute bike ride through the woods, which are breathtaking. This is a great place for anyone who wants to hear themselves think. The air is clear, the area is charming and I'd like to think we are a positive and fun bunch to work with. ps. we love music.
Area: Languedoc-Roussillon11 years ago, we moved from busy Greater London to the south west of France leaving behind our well paid office jobs for a complete change of life style in the French country side near Carcassonne. From our former lives, David(53) has taken his skills in Electronics to become a builder, working mainly on renovation projects, and Ariane (53) has taken her skills in Marketing to run our 3 holiday homes and there is Charlotte our daughter. We also have a dog, 2 cats and a horse. We are a multinational couple, David is English and Ariane is German so lots of languages are spoken in our house. In our leisure time David loves making music, painting and improving our properties, Ariane is a keen rider and skier with the other two joining in sometimes, Charlotte's interests are gymnastics, painting and the computer. Accommodation would be in one of our holiday homes, when available, or in our house and we have a heated pool (April to October).
