    Description

We are a fun and loving couple. We live life to the fullest and love to meet and get to know people from other countries. Sanna is from Finland and Ellis from New Zealand.

We have traveled extensively and know what it is like to be in a new country far away from home. Ellis has been involved in filming several adventure travel documentaries, the latest for National Geographic.

We have built our own home ‘The Tree House’ with two 9 meter trees inside the lounge. The Tree House also has a huge rock fireplace and lots of other amazing features. Our property has stunning mountain views to the Inland Kaikoura Mountain Ranges.

We live a healthy lifestyle with healthy nutrition and daily exercise. We have our well-equipped gym and train ourselves daily. Sanna is a personal trainer. You are welcome to use the gym.

We have a couple of mountain bikes you are welcome to use. Our local beach is only 8 kms away and there are some nice walks and tracks that you can explore.

Be sure to check out the positive feedback that other travelers have submitted about us.

We are also currently building an Underground House on our property, as well as a Small Cabin, that we would need some help with. So anyone with experience as builders, carpenters, DIY people etc would be much appreciated :)

On our property there is always some planting, gardening, building, general maintenance and help cleaning around the house.

We ask you to buy and provide most of your groceries, however, we will supply some food, as well as seasonal fruit and veggies, and Sanna makes amazing home-baked bread.

We do appreciate positive, helpful, motivated, enthusiastic, honest people. If you feel like a real Kiwi / Finnish experience, then this is the place to be.

We have built a cozy self-contained cabin on our property, near a small stream, which you will be staying in. The cabin runs on solar power, it has running water, a wood fire log burner, kitchen, living room, gas stove to cook on, and a separate little building with toilet and shower. There is also a cozy and sheltered big outdoor deck and picnic table.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Cheviot is a small friendly town that occupies the rolling farmland between two of the South Island's magnificent braided rivers and the Pacific Ocean. While small in stature, Cheviot has attractions and services well beyond its size.

Big blue skies and fresh country air are the base notes for this slice of paradise. The pace is relaxed, crowds are few. Cheviot village is the economic and social hub of this largely rural community of around 1,500 people, where "old fashioned" community values sit comfortably alongside the town's growing art scene and attractive cafes.

Cheviot enjoys a full range of shops and services while just down the road is Gore Bay, one of the South Island's top surf spots and a popular destination for families to swim, explore the rock pools at low tide, fish and dive. The Hurunui and Waiau rivers offer premium salmon and trout fishing and the delicious whitebait.

Check out the Domain at the south edge of town on the coast side, wonderful in the spring with abundant Daffodils.
