    Description

    This is a small, cozy but tranquil family-run hostel (Dora and 2 sisters, Marlene and .... you !), centrally located in the quiet town of Samaipata. It is caracterised by the many common áreas such as patios and garden, big balcony, common inside room, big stone tables and hammocks. The guest kitchen is a travelers favorite, as well as the breakfast and a high viewpoint on top of the hostel (3rd floor) with beautiful views over the village and the mountains.
    We consider ourselves as a small Paradise within the Samaipata village. We are a place for sharing, ideal to rest and relax before preparing beautiful tours in the área.

    es un pequeño y tranquilo hostal familiar (Dora y 2 hermanas,y.. tu!) ubicado en el centro de un tranquilo pueblo de Samaipata. Tiene distintas areas como patios, jardin, grande balcon, espacio común, mesas de piedras y hamacas. La cocina de los huéspedes, el desayuno y el mirador al tercer piso que ofrece una vista maravillosa del pueblo y su alrededores son las "estrellas" del hostal. Nos consideramos como un pequeño paraíso dentro del pueblo de Samaipata. Somos un lugar para compartir, ideal para descansar y prepararse para hermosos paseos en la zona.

    Nos gusta compartir con voluntarios sobre todos los temas como vida local, cultura, etc… Sera una oportunidad para el voluntario de entender como funciona un hostal y por supuesto mejorar su nivel de español.

    We are eager to share with volunteers about local life, culture and other topics that may arise.
    Il will be the opportunity for the volunteer to understand how an hostel Works and of course improve his/her spanish.

    All typical work in a backpackers´ hostel including (give informations to tourists, organize tours for guests via contacting with local guide, make beds,keep the commun kitchen clean, welcome and organize planning of rooms and give hand for whatever may be needed in the hostel). Ideas like group cooking, painting and art projects will be stimulated as we would like to offer our guest an experience in our hostel.
    The volunteer will work from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. 2 days off (following or not) every week between Monday and Friday as the activity during the weekend is always more important.

    El trabajo clásico de un hostal incluye (dar informaciones a los huéspedes, organizar paseos via guía local, tender sabanas, mantener limpia la cocina,agradecer y organizar la agenda de las habitaciones y dar una mano por el resto cuando necesitamos)
    Ideas como pintura, arte proyectos, taller de cocina estarán sostenidos queremos ofrecer a nuestros huéspedes una experiencia diferente en nuestro hostal.
    Los horarios de trabajo del voluntario son de las 13h a las 15h y de las 17h a las 21h. 2 dias completos de libre (continuos o seperados) cada semana entre el Lunes y el Viernes, sea que la actividad durante el fin de semana siempre esta mas importante.

    Voluntario tiene su propia habitación con bano privado, ducha caliente, cama con colchon resort. Comida incluida, a la excepción de algunos ingredientes como carne.

    Que saber de Samaipata :

    Samaipata llamada Castilla en la época de la colonia, fue fundada en cercanías del ya conocido fuerte de Samaipata por el Capitán español Pedro Lucio Escalante y Mendoza en la fecha del 30 de mayo de 1618 con el nombre de "Ciudad del Valle de la Purificación de la Santísima Virgen", en honor a la nueva capilla edificada en el lugar denominado el descargadero (Nombre dado debido a que las personas descargaban sus mercancías para trueque o comercio)
    Se encuentra ubicada en las primeras estribaciones andinas a 1.670 metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar.
    El pueblo de Samaipata queda a unas 2,5 horas de la ciudad de Santa Cruz de la Sierra y es un importante centro turístico y artesanal.
    Tiene un clima templado sub-tropical.
    Samaipata alberga más de 25 nacionalidades extranjeras que conviven con la población valluno de Samaipata y así es un micro mundo ejemplar para el departamento, para Bolivia y para quien lo conozca de este bello lugar.

    Los alrededores :
    - El famoso Fuerte, es un sitio Arqueológico, considerada la piedra tallada más grande del mundo, declarada Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad por la UNESCO y considerada un importante destino turístico de Bolivia.
    - La region de Samaipata es famosa tambien para la observacion de los aves, incluiendo condores,. La Pajcha y las Cuevas son cascadas famosas accesibles facilmente de Samaipata con guias locales para disfrutar del sol y de un dia en la naturaleza.
    - El Parque Nacional y Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Amboró, un área protegida de Bolivia y una de las reservas a nivel mundial con mayor biodiversidad, lugar en que la cordillera occidental cambia de rumbo en dirección sur. El área se caracteriza por poseer una gran diversidad florística a nivel mundial. Existen aproximadamente 3.000 especies de plantas registradas para el área. Entre la gran diversidad se destacan numerosas especies de orquídeas, los helechos arbóreos gigantes (Cyathea y Alsophyla) que forman extensos parches. En el Parque se registran más de 177 especies de mamíferos, entre los que sobresale las 43 especies de murciélagos. Entre los mamíferos grandes encontramos al oso andino o jucumari, el jaguar o tigre americano, al oso bandera (hormiguero), entre otros. Se presenta en el parque un alto nivel de endemismo, 135 especies de reptiles y 173 especies de anfibios entre los cuales 50 especies son sapos. Existen 912 especies de aves, las aves que mayor interés despiertan son la pava de copete, y la paraba militar. Sobreviven en el parque muchas especies de aves endémicas y amenazadas en otras regiones.


    Es muy fácil integrarse en la vida local y atender pequenos eventos como yoag, concertos, etc… Es posible descubrir la región que tiene varios sitios de interés. Durante los horarios de trabajo, el voluntario tiene mucho tiempo para descansar, leer un libro en los hamacas cuando es tranquilo. Si practica yoga o tai chi, hay un espacio dedicado, justo al lado de su habitación. Un minimo nivel de español es necesario. Tiempo minimo de estadia es de 3 semanas. Te esperamos ¡ ;-)

    Samaipata, named “Castilla” during the colonial times was founded around the already know “Fuerte de Samaipata” by the Spanish Captain Pedro Lucio Escalante y Medoza on May 30th 1618 with the name “Town of the Purification and Saint Virgen Valley”, in the honor of the recently built church in the place called the “unloading (because people used to unload their goods for barter or trade).
    Samaipata is located in the first heles of the Andes at 1670 meters high.
    The village is 2 and a half hours from Santa Cruz de la Sierra and is an important turistic and artisanal center.
    The climate is sub-tropical.
    Samaipata hosts more tan 25 foreign nationalities who lives amongst local population, making it a exemplary multicultural village for the district, for Bolivia and for all who know this beautiful and special place.

    - The famous Fuerte de Samaipata, archeological site, consider as the biggest shaped rocks structure of the world, was declared Human World Heritage by UNESCO and is considered as a major touristic destination in Bolivia.
    - The Samaipata región is also know for bird watching, including condors. Pajcha and Cuevas waterfalls are really enchanting and accesible easily from Samaipata with local guides to enjoy a nice day of sun in the nature.
    - El Parque Nacional y Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Amboró, is a nature reserve with over 912 species of birds, over 177 mammalian species including puma, ocelot, and the rare spectacled bear. Parque Nacionál Amboró is one of the most botanically rich national parks in the world. The current number of documented plant species totals around 3,000, though this is almost certainly an underestimate. 177 species of mammals have been registered; among them 43 species of bats. Among the large mammals we find the spectacled bear (locally known as the jucumari), the jaguar, and the giant anteater. The park presents a high level of endemism, 173 species of amphibians with 50 species of toads alone, 135 species of Reptiles. The number of bird species observed within the area exceeds 912, or more than 60% of the country's total.


    It is easy to integrate into local life and participate in small events, yoga, concerts. You can go on hikes or smaller walks, visit waterfalls. Also during the ´working hours´ volunteers have lots of time to read their book or hang in the hammock, when it´s quiet. If you practice f.e. meditation, yoga or tai chi, you can do that in the basement area, just next to your room. At least basic level of Spanish is required ! Minimum commitment is 2 weeks.
