Volunteer at a rustic B & B in the italian countryside close to Rome, Italy
Description
This is the second year of this Bed & Breakfast, it is a work in progress. The first guests have arrived but there is still a lot of work. The place is located in a small village in the italian countryside. Many of the houses next to it are abandoned. The B & B consists of several rooms in different buildings that belong together.
So far I am the only person that steadily lives here but many people come to help or visit from the closeby farmstay. Because this place is part of a group of places that collaborate with each other.All three places host volunteers and we often help each other or do stuff together in our free time.
You can visit the farmstay to meet interesting people from all over the world. There is also a second farm, that belongs to the farmstay and is worth a visit. It is very rustic, there is no electricity or hot water, still people live there and enjoy a humble life far away from modern world luxury.

At the moment we are restoring the old houses, therefore work is mainly construction work, such as cleaning old wooden doors, cleaning rusty railings, taking of old plaster. Work might be hard, but it is rewarding because you can see right away that you created, improved something.There will be help needed also with the guests, taking care of breakfast, and cleaning the comunal areas. Since I cannot offer meals, I only request 3 hours of work per day. You have full use of the comunal kitchen to prepare your own meals (in this area you can get by with a few euros to take care of your meals). You can use the herbs from the herb garden and you can eat the fresh eggs of our own chickens. In this area grocery shopping is not so expensive. In the little village next to Via Piana ther is a grocery store. There is also a discount supermarket in Sora where you can buy 1 kilo (2,2 pounds) of Pasta for 0,70 euro cents. Also at the local food market on thursdays you can buy very cheap fresh and local food. You can prepare your meals in the comunal kitchen that we just finished building in 2010.
Since we are planing on making an organic vegetable garden soon for the volunteers use, there will also be some gardening work and we will get chickens that have to be taken care of.
Minimum stay is two weeks, but longterm stays prefered.Also I prefer to host individual travelers. It just works out better for this project so we decided not to host couples or friends that come together. Thank you for respecting these terms. I am also looking for a long term volunteer who would like to stay several months in the summer.

Accommodation
Accomodation is in rustic room shared with up to two other people. There is no electricity in the rooms, but you can use the elecricity and Wireless internet in the common areas. The bathroom has a low ceiling and is outside, but it is completely functional. So far there is no heating in the room, so people who suffer a lot from the cold should only come from end of April to the end of September. In late october it starts to become cold here and we don't have heating in the rooms. However many people didn't mind since it can get warmer during the day if the sun comes out. It becomes warm again in April.

Accurate description of location, accommodations, and work. I had an even better experience here than I was expecting thanks to the wonderful people who own and manage the B&B. I was here during July 2010 and highly recommend it.
Katie is a great volunteer. She is incredibly smart so it is really easy to explain any job to her. She will understand it and do it well. Katharina ended up staying for two months, so i guess she liked it here. She was a great worker and helped me a lot. Litonya is an incredibly hard working helper. She would do any job that was given to her. She is tougher then some guy volunteers but has a big heart, especially when it comes to animals. The B&B is still a work in progress, as Anna said, but the rustic atmosphere gives a great feeling to the place. I recommend this host to everyone looking for a hard work in the extremely picturesque town of Pescosolido.

Felipe is a really nice easy going guy. We had really good times together. He is more than willing to help you with any job. He works hard and is a very active helper who is always keen on doing a good job. He also has a great sense of humor and is very sociable. Feel free to come back whenever you like!
I had a great time staying and helping Anna with her on-going projects. There is always a lot to do and you often get to choose what you would rather do! The accomodation is comfortable and you get a lot of free time. Stunning location too! I really enjoyed working with Anna and her cat and her chickens and ducks, even the lame one! =)
Hosting Eva has been a great experience. She is full of positive Energy and nothing can bring her down it seems. She was an excellent helper. When she took over a task she did a thourough and precise job. We shared great conversations and lot's of laughter. She is very easygoing and free spirited and genuinly aims to help everybody.Thank you Eva.
Anna and thie whole place very nice. Situated about 30 minutes from Sora by foot, it is a quiet place to relax. Guests stay in restored farmhouse rooms and have access to a common area with a kitchen and big fireplace.

Charlie knows a lot about building so he is a big help with that. He gave me good advice based on his experience for my varies projects with the Bed & Breakast. If you give Charlie a task he will work on it independently and make sure that he is doing it well. He is very easygoing and good company.
