Region:Organic Bed and Breakfast at the lovely island Alsen. The living house is from 1785 with a lot of charm from the "good old days" and work has do be done is in the garden and at the house. In 2008 I fall in love with an very old house on the iland Alsen in the south of Denmark. Now it is our home for me Maren (53) and my youngest datter Lisa (17).Hannah(24) and Duncan(21) are not living at home anymore. I have two educations, ceramist and masseur and have workexperience from several working places . Now I am working at a little privat school as a social educator and taking an education as a yogateacher. After one year of restoring some parts of the house I started my ecological B&B in may 2010 . The dream is to restore the 1. floor for B&B. I have a part time job so you have to be capable of working on your own .Beside work there will be plenty of time to explore the island by bicycle or hiking, good bus transfer to Sonderborg.
Region: Tuscany**** IMPORTANT: Please, read the profile before to send a request. Thanks **** I have a vision, a simple life with right people... In this little organic farm (with many animals) we can always use some more hands to help... preferably someone who have manual skills (handyman), who is able to build or repair a hut or build a fence.. Someone rustic and easy going, motivated and passionate in their field. Unfortunately we do not have professional equipment, just some common tools ... :/ so you will have to use your imagination sometimes! Current projects that we would appreciate help with in addition to daily animal care (anyone who wants to try their expertise is welcome of course) include: -building huts from natural materials (a lot, a lot of different aspects to help with), computer issues, fixing up the chicken coops, etc… I like sharing good times with 'good' people, who are happy, motivated, easy going and very open minded. If you are getting fed up with the busy city life, and want to step ‘Into the Wild’ (just like the film but with a happy ending), without many of the comforts from the city but immersed in the countryside/farm lifestyle, getting your hands dirty (with the animals it´s impossible to stay clean for more than one hour) then this is the place for you. A true life in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany. Honestly I prefer volunteers who are single because they are more open with other volunteers and with me, to come and stay here for longer periods of time, hoping everything goes well between us (just remember, this is not a B&B, Hostel or Couch Surfing). My elderly mother (83yo) lives here with me, she cooks very well and she knows many, many things. She´s a real living-encyclopedia of homestead survival (maybe even better than that!). But you know… elderly people sometimes don´t understand this ‘new world’ , and she doesn’t speak any English or any other language, just Italian.. so you´ll need a little patience... or better just ‘love’. We are not Vegan or Vegetarian.. If we remove the meat from our traditional Tuscan dishes, there is almost nothing .. Many of these ancient recipes involving the use of meat or fish eggs .. etc. .. And 'my mother (very old) who prepares the food and we can not ask her to change the culture and habits. Unfortunately, we have tried in the past to accept volunteers vegetarian and she has been a problem because it can not do 'diets differentiated' .. we eat what we have... Something about me: I have a full life and many experiences. I travelled a lot in many countries, I am a gay artist born in Tuscany but grew up in Milan, I´ve lived many years in Paris and Rome, and also Madrid and London. But honestly I don’t like the big city lifestyle and in the ‘art or cinema world’ many people can be quite false and hypocritical. And one day I got very tired of all this, took my bag and returned home to my origins, to ‘my land’ Tuscany, to live and paint in the middle of a big and crazy chickens hens… I feel much better. I do not like people who are presumptuous, arrogant, know it all .. I appreciate people who are more humble, polite, with common sense and education. I have an immense interest/desire to build structures made only from natural materials, but it´s very hard when money is always less and wood is always more expensive... I want people to be 'transported' when they come here, to a place of fantasy and creativity..Using methods like 'Cob' to build small but beautiful homes that are made from materials given to us by our earth, it would be something similar to a happy 'Hobbit Village' where we are free to live and enjoy each other´s company, a place where no one is judged by their sexual orientation. My goal is for all to feel good, free and welcomed during their stay here. I love recycling everything.. The only problem is the space because the house is very small, that´s why we have caravans close to the house and want to build huts to accommodate more people. But you know...’Rome wasn´t built in a day'. We live the good life. Everything (well almost everything!) we eat is grown or made here on the farm: olive oil, wine, eggs and vegetables and we eat all our meals together. And we hope to become increasingly self-sufficient. We are located in Tuscany, Maremma is the heart of the etruscan land/tuscan countryside (one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany landscape), not very far from the sea, 25 minutes by car, the city of Grosseto and the thermal baths of Saturnia (it's a magic place for warm water bath) 40 min by car. Music is also very important, I am always thinking of the 'soundtrack of my life'... (many memories) I think life is special and we have only 1 to live, so why be unhappy? (Many of those who live in the city are surrounded by thousands of others, and yet feel totally alone…)
Region: Scottish HighlandsWe live in Carrbridge, a village in the Caingorm National Park, in the Highlands of Scotland. I am Gillian, I live with my husband Jim and my son Russell, who is travelling in Europe. This is a very good area to visit. It is a small village, 7 miles from Aviemore and 25 miles from the city of Inverness. We have a railway station 2-3 mins walk from our house and there is a bus service.

Region: DhadingI am Ajay, age of 35, I am founder and Principal of our academy, Vice- Chairman of the Prominent Welfare Society, Scouts Master for Nepal Scouts ( SCA Troop) and involved in local clubs with social services. I have a Master's Degree in Political Science, and a BA Degree in English Literature from Tribhuvan University. I have been teaching for ten years. My wife Bina, age of 28, is an administrator at the Academy and works in local women's groups as the leader in women empowerment issues. We have five year old daughter "Eminent Rimal (Sanskriti)", she prefers her Nepali name "SANSKRITI" which means culture. She reads in Class one at the Academy. I founded the academy in 2007 after a final wish from my father, who was a pioneer in bringing English education in to rural parts of Nepal. Sadly during the political crisis his school failed and he asked me to continue his dream of bringing education to all to develop communities. It is a government registered English medium school 4 km from our home which is located at the side of river Dharke, Dhading. Our place is one hour drive from Kathmandu ( 25 Kilometers) and on the way to Pokhara. We currently have 200 students that range from nursery to class 10 (age4-18). We want to develop our community by educating young people through active involvement in education, health, agriculture, languages, cultures, lifestyles, music, games and sports, the environment and its sustainability. Our Academy Mission • We provide qualitative education to both under privileged and privileged children irrespective of colour, creed religion and castes. Further, the students get ample opportunities to achieve their goals, establish social norms and values, and develop moral character in this ever changing world. At the academy, we believe in an education based on proper caring, counselling, love , positive thinking with a rounded curriculum. Our curriculum is based on significant lessons of mental and spiritual well-being, a direct involvement with nature to learn about sustainability of the environment, as well as music, sports, personality development, elocution, organic farming, project work, poetry, scouting, creativity and services that have been provided to the students by utilizing limited and locally available resources. At the Academy we provide our students the tools to unlock their potential and the freedom to explore the success in life in this ever changing world. The wealth of skills, knowledge and experiences that are brought by volunteers really builds a multi-cultural link for our students with the wider world. We welcome volunteers with mutual understanding, cooperation and a willingness to share food, cultures, lifestyle, languages, skills. Therefore creating a world wide network. Our Achievements: • Yale University's Service Project "Reach Out Spring Break Trip 2012". had been successfully completed their Trip at our Academy which helped students to learn many valuable lessons. • Participated in the Junior Wushu World Championship in Singapore and Asian Championship in China • 11 Gold medals at school-level Wushu games and 1 Gold medal in National Wushu Championship, including the best player award. We are the Top ten school of Dhading in School Board Exam with 100% results. We are keen hosts and provide a traditional family experience for our volunteers. We hope to broaden our mutual understanding of other cultures, languages and lifestyles and share ideas to make our academy a success.
