Description
We are a close happy 3 generation family from England plus 3 cats and 2 dogs, who moved to Catalunya Spain 5 years ago, we have settled into the lifestyle and are in the process of building an holistic retreat. We are non smokers but are happy to accept smokers as long as its away from the house.
Our Finca is on 7 hectares of land, with 500 olive trees, almond and walnut trees, variety of fruit tress, grapes, figs and an allotment. As much as possible we try not to use any chemicals on the land.
We are restoring the old farm house (slow process)..... and always working on the land clearing, weeding, pruning etc
Our aim eventually is to have a retreat where people can learn spiritual awareness through courses and to have holidays here in a tranquil, relaxing setting with a bit of fun thrown in.

We would love help with our Olive picking which is from mid November onwards. The weather is normally nice and it is really quite a pleasant job, this normally takes 6-8 weeks. Pruning starts March time when the frosts have gone.
We always have lots of general land clearing i.e Bamboo, weeds, wood chopping. Our veggie patch always needs willing workers to help us.
We also would love people who are artistic who could help design and assist in numerous projects.
General building work is always needed.
We would not ask people to do jobs we would not do ourselves.

Accommodation
Depending on the time of year it could range from a Tent or in house, we can accommodate up to 4 people with a shared bathroom.

We have mains electric and well water, internet and phone line.
We have a swimming pool for the hot summer months and regular bbq's.
The area has lots of history as it was the site of large battles during the Spanish civil war, the small local Catalan town is 4 km and you can take a train to Barcelona which is 2 hours. The beach is 1 hour away (Costa Dorada). We are on the river ebro which is world renowned for cat fishing, and is also good for some water sports. The town has lots of small fiestas throughout the year which can be lots of fun.

Mira was our first experience with workaway and we were so happy and lucky to have her join our family. She was very eager and hard working. Our main job whilst she was here was preparing for the olive harvest and then picking the olives. She also spent time with our 4 year old teaching her Russian and making a mosaic with her.

It was my first workaway expirience and it was realy exellent. First of all, this people not use volonteers, as egoistic people who just don't want to pay for work. They really need help. This is the right place where people share food, work, and their good mood. I felt myself as part of the family and I really love them. We worked with fun and we more
I had a wonderful time with the Veck family and I would highly recommend them as hosts to future workawayers. They were my first hosts and between the new experiences and skills, comfortable accommodations, bountiful meals, and welcoming atmosphere they will be a very tough act to follow! We had John join us for 3 weeks. He is a very polite, willing and enthusiastic worker. He was very happy to get involved with any tasks we gave him either working with us or in a group. John settled well with us as a family and we all loved having him around. We wish him well with his travels and are happy for him to drop by if he is ever passing more
