    Description

We are remotely situated in a exquisite valley high in the Cradle region of north, west Tasmania. Lorinna, the community which we belong to, is a progressive (though non-intentional) demographic of off-the-grid gardeners focused on sustainability and community resilience. Our primary focus is cultural regeneration and we encourage people coming to us to join morning yoga and meditation on our Cradle Mountain viewing platforms, and to gather for evening discussions around social permaculture and emergent culture. Day to day help includes natural building, ecological restoration, gardening, wood preparation for cooking and heating, and property maintenance. We offer plenty of opportunity for people to experience other projects in the community and to explore our beautiful valley. Application is via a friendly chat to assess if we are all likely to draw nourishment from our journeying together.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Visitors will experience living in strong community circumstance that is focused on sustainability. Our primary learning journey is grounded in regenerative culture explorations and how that might be lived out intentionally. As we are an Australian/Indonesian family, being with us offers access to both worlds with possibilities open to volunteer at our home in Indonesia.

We are situated in an exquisite valley that offers forest tracks to walk, lake and lakeside activities, and a diverse and interesting community to plug into. Weekly yoga sessions are available; our local food co op opens twice a week luring the community in for social reasons as well as for shopping, scrumptious food and excellent coffee. A Buddhist retreat holds events throughout the summer and visitors are welcome all year round. The community is conveniently located close to some of Tasmania's best known attractions such as Cradle Mountain and The Walls of Jerusalem. No public transport is available, though car pooling is common.
