    Description

    Hello travelers!

We are a mountain lodge located 15 minutes car ride from beautiful Antigua, Guatemala, in a small village called El Hato.
Our property stands in the middle of avocado fields: we are known for our amazing farm-to-table menu (with many gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options) and we boast one of the best volcano views in Guatemala, being set right in front of the Fuego, Acatenango and Agua volcanoes. People come here to enjoy nature, do yoga, partake in one of our wellness services (sauna, ice bath, massage, red light therapy, etc.), relax in a hammock, eat amazing food, take a break and escape from the city life. We also frequently host special events and retreat groups.

We have a relaxed atmosphere and try to build a family feeling for those who are looking for a haven away from home. A great opportunity to meet other travelers, mix with a lovely local community and enjoy stunning surroundings (including lava explosions under breath-taking starry skies!)
We can sleep up to about 30 guests, plus have walk-in traffic of travelers and locals for the restaurant, daily yoga class and wellness services.

We are looking for people willing to be the heart and soul of this place. We like volunteers who take active action in organizing activities for both the fellow workers and the guests to gather together. We really appreciate people willing to become part of a family, happy to be here and spending their time keeping the place lively and sparkling, involved 100% in the vibe of our beautiful paradise.

Many of our guests are Guatemalan, so speaking Spanish is an important skill to have :)

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As a volunteer, you will be in a very multicultural place, you will be able to have language exchange with other workawayers, travelers and local people. We also help support the local school with supplies, and financial assistance for infrastructure projects. We are very close to Antigua, where many cultural experiences regularly happen (cooking classes, markets, local celebrations, etc.)

  • Help

    Help

We ask for an 8-week minimum commitment after a one-week trial, and we aim for people willing to stay on for even longer. We promise it sounds like a long time, but we know for sure that you won't want to leave once you've experienced the place!

Help consists of greeting guests at the reception, dealing with the check-ins and check-outs, and, in general, being present to keep the place lively and interact with customers. A pro-active and social personality is mandatory here! The atmosphere is very casual but the place does get very busy from time to time. We are looking for people's lovers, who will be happy to help the customers organising their activities and to make them feel welcomed, loved and listened to.
Previous experience in a similar role and a passion for travels, self development and human connections is very much appreciated.
We require our volunteers to be at least 21 years old and have good communication skills in English and Spanish (NOT NEGOTIABLE)! We look for people who are confident in answering queries in person and over the phone in both languages.

In exchange for your help, you will get a private cabin, free food from the (amazing) menu when on shift and access to the kitchen the rest of the time, a strong STARLINK internet connection, half-priced drinks, very good free coffee and a share of tips each month. You also get to use the yoga studio and workout equipment for free. Oh, and the incredible view, daily!
As a plus, we have partner hostels in different beautiful spots in Guatemala, offering our volunteers free nights when visiting!

*** We always look for volunteers who would be able to teach yoga for our daily morning classes! The income for the classes go straight to the teacher and is scheduled outside of the volunteer shift, as a plus, in your spare time. PLEASE NOTE: we do NOT need a volunteer who only teaches yoga, but a reception volunteer who can also lead classes :)

*** If you are a macramé artist, make jewellery, paint, tattoo... the possibilities of actually having a tiny income while you are here with us are infinite, both in our Lodge and down in town in Antigua!

Please write the DATES that you are available to volunteer in the subject line of your message as it makes it easier for us to go through applicants and it also shows us that you have read our profile! :)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We wish to be considered a family and not a random 5-hour shift workplace.

If helpers have other skills such as being yoga teachers, carpenters, masseuses, artists in any way, there are infinite opportunities here to be explored.

There is great hiking around, wonderful views, hammocks to relax in, and we are very close to wonderful Antigua.
