    Description

We are a little family, Milton (Swedish, 47), Hanne (German, 46) and Lovis (born in February 2014 and the most amazing little creature), who decided to move to the German country side in 2012 and are now living in a beautiful historic watermill with a big lake, some land and lovely animals. Our village is tiny with about 80 inhabitants, but we are reasonably close (approx. 10km) to two bigger towns (Lüchow and Dannenberg) which are part of the Wendland, a spectacularly beautiful, creative and inspiring rural area in Lower Saxony.

It is a little paradise that always hopes for extra love, care and helping hands. We have finished most of the renovations inside but there is still enough to do, build, fix, create....the property is big and every year I (Hanne) have a dream of improving our vegetable garden, exploring further ideas of permaculture and improving my catering business with regional seasonal foods!

At the moment we have sheep, cats, two dogs, chicken and ducks. We are aiming to reach a fair level of self-sufficiency but in some regards it's still a long way to go.

We are part of a lovely and interesting community and often people come over for a chat and a coffee and a slice of Hanne's cake.

We love life, laughter, adventures, music, good food and animals. Would you like to share this with us?

Our guests are part of the family. You live with us, eat with us, we sit together, laugh, enjoy life and eat lots of cake....but there is also enough space for everyone to get on with their own stuff and enjoy some privacy.
We are a very open minded family and enjoy visitors and friends stay with us - the door is always open - sometimes that gets a bit crazy, most times it's wonderful!

We love to learn and try out new things. We didn't grow up in the country side and are still expanding our farm life knowledge all the time. We are especially excited about hosting people who are also keen on experiencing new things, working self responsibly and sharing their ideas and knowledge. We are both very busy so we rarely have time to work alongside you.
There are lots of things to do and you can help us either with maintenance and building works in and around the house, care for the animals, or gardening. Work will include e.g. renovating, painting, building and repairing, mucking out stables, feeding the sheep, lawn mowing, raking, planting, weeding, going for dog walks etc.
Also, if you are up for hanging out with a really cool little 10-year old...there will be plenty of chances :-)

    What else ...

We have bikes and there are swimming lakes and lovely country side all around us.
It is very rural but the towns Lüchow and Dannenberg have all shops etc. The next city is Lüneburg and you can take a train for a day trip out.
The Wendland is famous for the German Anti Nuclear Power Movement, people here are inspiring and political, there are lots of CSA's, communes, and people looking for an alternative life style.
