Description
We're giving English classes in Karapityia, Galle.
*️️️️️We're close to the beaches and easy to travel from & to.

The volunteering has two options:
One is taking care of the house, together with our staff being the mother of our home and our doggies:)
The other is helping teaching which requires teaching skills as well as a huge dose of English language knowledge.
You will assist on fixed days & hours in class and help the office girl if/when needed.
Our house is located at the edge of town.
We're looking for some one who's willing to help me taking care of our loving pets * 2 small doggies and keeping the home clean where/when needed.
We are looking for somebody who is willing to stay for a minimum of 3 weeks or more.
When interested in our school & classes there's always the possibility to join the lessons.

There's no work schedule on forehand as we want you & our doggies to be happy whilst staying with us.

It was a shame that I didn't have more time, that was the reason why I could only stay 2 weeks ;) This was my first workaway experience and it was a very good one! Marga and Eranda made me feel really welcome and I immediately felt at home. I stayed in the school, which is basically… read more your own little house. I shared the room with another workawayer. So you have your room, a bathroom, a kitchen and the living room/classroom. Off course one of your tasks is to keep the house clean. You don't have to worry about food. Marga and Eranda will always make sure that there will be fresh fruits and everything else you need for you!
The house of Marga and Eranda is closeby, on the other side of the road so you can easily come by with questions or we had dinner together. Or just having a nice chat.
You can even spot some nice wildlife around the house, there are monkeys on the roof, lizards in the street. The real Sri Lankan experience! :)

My tasks were taking care of the guesthouse, taking care of the two dogs and helping a little bit with the English classes. I had a lot of free time. Marga is the sweetest and she is constantly worrying if you will enjoy yourself and if everyone has the time and opportunity to travel around and explore the area. So she will definitely make sure that you enjoy Galle and surroundings! There are bicycles available and you can easily grab a tuktuk from the house into town. The school is 15 min cycling from Galle Fort. Marga and Eranda helped me with renting a scooter for a very good price, so I could easily go around :)
I was a host for the guesthouse, so when the guest arrive show them around and make sure they have everything they need. In the morning I helped preparing breakfast and gave tips about what to do in the area.
The dogs are funny, both have their own personality but you will get to know them and how the handle them. Taking care of them means preparing their food, walking and washing the dogs. And off course chilling on the couch with 2 dogs sleeping on you belly ;)
I'm not a teacher but I loved to help with the classes, especially the little kiddies are incredible cute and really eager to learn. Marga is a good teacher! It is definitely nice to help out with the lessons, or practicing English with the kids and teens.
Marga went on a holiday for the last week but when she called we could easily chat for an hour. Me and the workaway girl made jokes that she was like a mom. And she really was, taking good care of us :)

Thankyou so much Marga and Eranda for letting me stay with you for 2 weeks. I enjoyed it a lot and I felt really comfortable and welcome, if I come back to Sri Lanka, off course I will come by!
For next workawayers, you will have a great time here, I'm sure about it ! :)

This is a really nice place to work. Marga and Eranda are super friendly and helpful.
We didn’t have a fix work schedule and me together with the other volonteer were basically running the guesthouse by our own.
Certain days a week I was helping out in the class, what is a great local experience!
I would definitely recommend this workaway.

You will be pretty indipendent here, times are flexible and you will basically run your own guesthouse.
