Description
We are a middle aged couple that run a horse farm in Iceland. We also have a few sheep as a hobby, for fun, and very friendly dogs.
We've had international helpers in our home (and living on our farm) since 1998, and the wife in the house was a volunteer/worker herself, several times, on farms, when younger. So we're pretty experienced in this, and simply try to make this a nice and meaningful experience for both those that stay here and host.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You'll get to know the climate and culture, especially the culture of horse people, farmers and country side people in Iceland. And the nature here is stunning.
Sometimes we're looking for help with cooking and housework: It's a super fun cultural exchange, getting to know Iceland in so many ways, and having fun with other young people, and us the locals.
(( not in 2024) Sometimes we're looking for assistants in horses: It becomes a super good internship for horse people, for both hobby riders and for those that want to become professionals in horses, f.ex. running horse tours or a riding school later.
Great for hiking in the summer/fall (May-October).Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

What else ...
We live in a very rural and beautiful area, with lots of space, northern lights (September-April), and arctic beauty, we're pretty close to the ocean, and breathtaking mountains. It can be rural and remote in the wintertime, in the summertime it's still remote but you meet a lot of people :) We have midnight sun (24/7 sunlight) in the summer months.
We are a lively group here, the people on the farm love playing card games, hiking, and enjoying the wonderful Icelandic nature, and animals. And there is good company from other young people.
It's very rural in Iceland, there are usually at least a couple of kilometers between different farms. So, there is a lot of peace and space.A little more information
