Area: Sicily - Zafferana Etnea (Catania)We are a family with three children of 8, 6 and 1 year. We have a small organic farm situated on the Mount Etna, quite near to Catania, Taormina and the seaside, in Zafferana Etnea. We came here from Milan in 2005 and decided to try to live a more simple life than "city life". Our goal is to be able to maintain ourselves with our little farm and other works that run around it, trying to be a little bit self-sufficients. Well, we're still learning how to live this way! In our farm we cultivate avocados, olives and other fruits, we make extra virgin olive oil, we have chickens, geese, bees and two goats. We're trying to grow our own vegetables, but it's not easy with all the work we have and three children. We try to live in a natural way, eating organic and local food as much as possible. I (Elisa) like cooking, I cook in an "italian style" but mixed with different cultures and with my personal style. I like experiments and I'm open to other types of food. We have always shared our house with people coming from everywhere, not only for exchange, sometimes to give someone a place to live. Our children are used to meet people of different languages and "colours", they like it but they need time to mix up with new people. We are both musicians and music lovers, even if in very different ways (I'm a classical music lover and violin and piano player, Vincenzo is hard/metal rock lover and drum player and singer!). We're now looking for some help for next Autumn. We need to clean the country from wild trees infesting our coltures and always need help in the vegetable garden and with animals.
Area: Byron BayI live 20 minutes from Byron Bay, and a ten-minute drive from the beach. I have a 22-year0old son and a 13-year-old daughter, and we have six horses, two dogs and a cat. At the moment I can't take couples, and the helper accommodation is a small single room in the house. We are on 13 acres, surrounded by macadamia forests. Work includes helping with horses, gardening, walking dogs and housework. Helpers work four-five hours per day with one day off per week. We prefer people with horse experience - or at least with country experience. We have a lot of fun and helpers come with us to Byron and other places. Food and accommodation provided but if you like to drink you will need to buy your own alcohol or special dietary foods. Nobody under 20 please and no smokers. Horse riding is at our discretion, but I also teach natural horsemanship.

Both Javi and I are enthusiastic cooks and can introduce you to a little of the famed basque cuisine.
