Description
Welcome to our cottage our house in South Galway, near the town of Gort. We are Nick and Marta and we have been a homeschooling family for all our children's childhood and teenage years. we have a focus on active education, creative learning, and mindfulness in our lifestyle. Our young companions have grown up now so we are at a moment of our life where it would be great to have support and help from young people that want to join us here to continue the cycle of life. As all keeps changing... We have organic growing gardens and herbal gardens, buildings that need always care and renovations, we also offer meditation zen sittings weekly for anybody to attend, and monthly Changes Group ( Focusing support group ). We also hold training in Nonviolent Communication, Focusing, and Nature & Plant Connection and Healing.
We have a lovely old companion and her name is Kila, two furry friends Lilith and Kitty, and many beautiful birds that bring joy throughout our day. We live very close to a native old Oak Forest that brings ongoing joy into our lives.Types of help and learning opportunities

You will learn about being in a place where you can find your own personal individual space while supporting our different projects. You will be working on a variety of tasks, from house support to help with our bnb lodging cottage and garden care, or any small jobs like painting and help with building jobs.
We enjoy sharing some of our time with volunteers but we also encourage independence and self-care.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Some of the tasks we will be doing together will be related to building, gardening, and house support.
Also with house maintenance and any other activity needed at each particular time..
We work during the day so you will be expected to work on your own initiative, In some moments we might be around to work together with the volunteers, but both Marta and Nick have jobs during the day.Languages spoken

Own room in a separate building from the main house. This is a wooden cabin, a very lovely compost toilet an an outdoor electric shower.
What else ...
in your free time you can use a separate building that we use as a hostel living room and kitchen area, so we can all have a little bit of personal space. We would also support you with information and advice on places to visit around here.
We live in a beautiful area surrounded by lakes, and forests, and close to 2 main cities Galway and Ennis. We would also support you by bringing you to the town of Gort to pick up busses, or public transport.A little more information

I had a lovely one month stay in October last year on Marta and Nick's estate. I was accommodated in a lovely wooden cottage, and though it was still a bit chilly outside, the cottage was nice and cozy. Since it was winter I was the only Workaway there so the place was peaceful and serene which was… read more
