We are a bi-lingual and bi-cultural British/Italian family made up of Charlotte, Claudio and our two children (aged 8 and 6). Our family lives in the small village of Montefegatesi in the Appenine mountains in northern Tuscany.
We run our own construction and property management company, and would appreciate help with the business, and in our own home and with the children. In return we can offer an amazing experience in a medieval Tuscan hill town filled with friendly outgoing locals who will love to welcome you to their world and teach you the language.
We would prefer people to stay for at least a month, but we're willing to consider shorter stays so please feel free to get in touch if you think we might be able to help each other out.
Type of help.
Help with Computers / internet,
Help in the house,
Cooking / shopping,
Babysitting / child care,
I (Charlotte) run and manage our small construction and property management business and would love to have someone come on board next year for a minimum of six months and help run the business side of things including emails, client interaction, visiting and maintaining properties.
I would also love some assistance with database and website development.
Claudio, my husband is building our dream home alongside working long hours in our business. He would ideally like someone with building or construction experience to assist him in the building of our home.
We would also like to hear from you if you are interested in helping us around the house and with looking after our children.
English and Italian
We have a two-bedroom house just around the corner from our home, complete with a fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom and space to relax. Depending on the time you come, you may have the house to yourself or share with other workawayers.
What else ...
Our village Montefegatesi is the perfect place to experience real Italian life, and we are happy to involve you with local occasions. We are a friendly family and we love to work with people as a team. We believe in treating others as we would like to be treated and working with individuals strengths and weaknesses to get the best for everyone.

We loved having Lily living and working with us. She is bright, bubbly and fun, but also mature and responsible.
The children enjoyed their time with her and she got on well with everyone, both from the village and visitors/other workawayers.
She worked hard and with enthusiasm and we would highly recommend her, especially for families more

I had the absolute pleasure to spend 7 weeks with Charlotte, Claudio and her lovely family in the village of Montefegatesi during the summer holidays.
I couldn’t have asked for a better family and a better experience and truly miss them all and wish I could have stayed for longer. This is a truly Italian experience and I must mention Charlotte more
Ah Nicola, where to start...... We miss you so much and that lovely calm atmosphere you brought to our crazy summer lives!
We feel so fortunate to have had Nicola with us for a large part of the summer. She is organised and capable and yet relaxed and laid back enough to have fun with the kids. She is great to bounce ideas of off and I too more

We spent almost two months with Charlotte and her family in Montefegatesi in July/August, and had an amazing time. The family live in a truly stunning part of Tuscany that is well worth a visit. As hosts, Charlotte and Claudio were extremely capable and made us feel welcome in their home and amongst their family and friends from the very first more
We miss Chris and Stef and wish that they could have stayed longer - the veggie garden is just the same without them!
Chris and Stef are both happy, friendly people who are easy to get along with and have a great work ethic. They turned their hands to everything from gardening and house work to child care and painting. The kids loved their more

I don't think I can say enough good things about my stay in Montefegatesi with Charlotte and her family. The whole situation is just very ideal for workaway, I would say. You put in your five hours of work for the day, and then you are able to "go home" to the workaway house which is right around the corner and relax for a bit. Also, there are more

The only thing that was disappointing was the short length of Alex's stay! We would have loved to have had her with us for much longer. Alex is so easy to have around, hard working and easy to talk to. She is mature, yet fun and we hope she will come and visit before she leaves Europe! (After all you must want to get away from Paris at some point more
We loved Ellie and are only sad that she could not stay for longer! We are keeping our fingers crossed that she might come back and stay with us again some day.
Ellie is lively and creative and was full of bright ideas for entertaining the kids during their long summer holiday. Both my son and daughter enjoyed spending time with her and she had more

Charlotte is truly a sweet and compassionate woman. I am so thankful for the experience I was able to have with her and her family, and I never imagined to be welcomed in the way that I was. I felt at home from the second I met them. They gave me a taste of what "village life" is, and I couldn't have loved it more. Their family and Montefegatesi more
Martin and Christina were really lovely people and lots of fun to have around. They were always smiley and were happy to turn their hands to anything I asked them to do - even hard physical labour on a rather hot day!
The kids enjoyed spending time with them and loved the 'elevator' rides with Martin!
I would thoroughly recommend them to more

From the very moment I walked through the door, Charlotte and her family made me feel completely at home. The work itself varied from hanging with the kids for a couple hours to cleaning up a very nice rental house. It never felt like too much or too little. Throughout my 2 month stay I always felt like I was part of the family, never just a more

I rarely take on Workawayers under 20 years old but something told me I should take a chance with Nic and I am so glad I did! Nic is that rare combination of maturity with a great sense of humor and ability to fit into any situation comfortably. We all felt immediately at ease with Nic, he was so easy to have around. He turned his hand to a wide more

This was my first workaway experience, I was completely blown away by the location, and especially by how friendly the family were. Firstly I must apologise to Courtney for the delay in getting this feedback done - it is no reflection on Courtney who was such a pleasure to have come and spend some time with us.
We all fell in love with Courtney right away she is such a happy, positive person to be around and so willing to help out. Courtney is one of those people who is more
Lydia was an amazing help around the house and the children took to her and fell in love with her in no time at all. Lydia is a wonderful, kind, loving, smiley person who has become a part of our family and who we miss incredibly. She made the most amazing birthday cakes for both of the children and kept everything in the house up to scratch. But more

We had an excellent summer with Charlotte and her family. Even though Montefegatesi is a small, remote location, it has plenty of charm and there were always plenty of things to do. We loved exploring the mountains and visiting nearby cities such as Florence and Pisa at the weekends. Charlotte was very accommodating and would run us down to the more
Dear Jenny and Louisa, I just noticed that I never wrote a reply to your feedback! You know that we loved having you and hope one day to have you both back. The kids had so much fun with you guys!
I thoroughly recommend these two lovely ladies to anyone looking for a helping hand.

Olivia and Liam were fantastic workawayers who we already miss immensely. They both threw themselves into any task we asked them to do from wood chopping and stacking, to building, painting and housework. Olivia is also fantastic with an iron and Liam is great with reinforced concrete! We hit it off with these guys right from the start, they were more

This is long long overdue completely because of my forgetfulness and not our experience. Liam and myself came originally for three weeks but ended up staying for six, last November/December and still talk about it all the time.

Not only do I love the place, I love Charlotte and her family. I felt welcome and at home instantly. I really enjoyed my time with her, her husband, and the kids. Nicoleta is so much fun to have around and is incredibly helpful and enthusiastic. She was willing to turn her hand to anything we asked her to do but she was particularly helpful to me in the office, organising our Workaway timetable and writing an information booklet for future Workawayers.

We had an amazing time with Charlotte and her family in our two and a bit weeks in Italy. Charlotte is a gorgeous person, very welcoming and instantly made us feel at home. The work was varied and interesting and the accomodation was fantastic. We really felt like we got to experience real Italian life. We will never forget our experience.
Karen and Nick were lovely people to have around and helped me to get to some of those jobs that I would never have managed without them! Nick's IT skills were a huge help to us and Karen is an amazing organiser. It took me two weeks to pronounce Montefegatesi, but two minutes to feel at home in this idyllic village 20km away from the nearest town. This was the perfect initiation to the Workaway experience. It was a pleasure to be welcomed so warmly by this wonderful family. It's worth noting that Workawayers here stay in a little house around the corner more

Charlotte, Claudio, Maddie and Giac are a really lovely family to stay with. They were immediately welcoming and after staying with them for 5weeks it was really sad to leave them to go home! We really enjoyed having Oovie, she was laid back and easy to have within our family. The kids loved her and thoroughly enjoyed 'cuddle time', arts and crafts and imaginative games with her. Oovie is also great with outdoor and practical work. We really hope she'll come back and see us again!
Lobke was a lovely, warm person. She was easy to have around and used her initiative so that the kids were well entertained and the house as nicely looked after as it can be with small children in it! Lobke is enthusiastic, friendly and fun. I really hope she will come back and stay with us again one day.

This family is really hospitable and friendly, they immediately make you feel at home! I have had a wonderful time in this beautiful mountain village. I especially enjoyed the local parties.
