Area: Languedoc RoussillonWe are 4 families. We built our one houses (we built 440 m2) in wood and strawbales, in a little village just near Montpellier, France. You wish to be a part of the great adventure of participatory construction? Fantastic! We have lived in this setting some unforgettable moments and created friendly relationships, to prepare ourselves to our own construction. Now, it's our turn to welcome those that would like to discover, to learn some techniques, to take your mind off, to meet people... You can come for a week or more. You will be received by one family. The construction is beginning. End of project in December 2014.

Area: EnglandAn organic (though not registered) 8 acre smallholding in rural Devon. We have goats, make cheese (and sell some), grow vegetables, fruit, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, generate some of our own electricity with our wind turbine and photovoltaic panels, solar hot water and produce some of our own firewood. We aim to be as self sufficient as we can and are always starting new projects to make this more possible. Mick and Ann have lived communally a lot in the past in a housing co-op in London and then in an intentional community in Devon until 16 years ago finding and falling in love with our home where we still live We are a family of four Mick has a full time job teaching at university, Ann runs the smallholding and makes and sells cheese, Rowan is 17 and busy with school and his passion is rugby and his dog Charlie, Declan is 15 also busy at school and his passion is music especially drumming. The smallholding is in a beautiful and quiet area though only 15 miles from the city of Exeter. We are near to a bus route so visitors can be met from and taken to catch busess so that you can visit more of the area. The landscape is small fields and lanes with hedges and woodlands. We are about 11/2 hours from the stunning north Devon coast and midway between the two National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor. NB: We are currently hosting our last workawayer for the year. Please only get in touch if you are looking for a place in March 2014 or later
Area: Hunsruck Naturpark Rhineland-PalatinateFrom Spring 2014 I am seeking an English, German or French speaking NON-SMOKING man to help with my on-going house renovation in Germany. Most of it is complete but maintenance and minor improvement is needed. I am also restoring my small native woodland and wildflower meadow after decades of neglect and poor management to encourage the return of wildlife.
Area: ConnachtHi, to help you, before you take time to read my entire profile, here is a summary of our current and imminent vacancies 1. SOMEONE WHO LOVES WORKING WITH ACCOUNTS - needed asap! 2. AN EXPERIENCED GRAPHIC DESIGNER - needed asap! 3. SOMEONE WHO IS VERY GOOD AT FACEBOOK - now & ongoing 4. A ROOFER AND / OR CARPENTER. 5. A PERSON EXPERIENCED AT MAKING A LARGE VEGETABLE GARDEN. We started having volunteers last summer. So far we have had more than 40 people from the "four corners" of the world - Europe, America, Asia, Australia - who have been excellent! I have been very impressed by the many wonderful volunteers and the standard of their work. Some have stayed a number of months. Many have come back for a second visit and some even for a third visit and some are now booking again for 2014! I manage a mid-sized historic house [formerly a hunting lodge], located in an exceptionally scenic valley, beside a beautiful, renowned lake and waterfall with mountains directly beside us. There are loads of outdoor activities nearby [ocean, mountains, lakes, rivers], as well as a wealth of cultural, heritage and arts interests. We are about 10 minutes drive from the regional town. Whilst there is no public transport you can, if you want, hitch a ride with locals or get a taxi. Often I travel to the local towns, as well. The main local town has an inter-city train and bus services. The local international airport is 1 hour away. We need volunteers to come preferably for 2 months. This gives them time to enjoy the local culture and other available opportunities. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I will send you our application form that you can use to tell us about yourself. We also like to receive a photo of anyone wishing to stay with us, so please include one in your on-line profile. ABOUT ME I enjoy nature, people, animals, theatre, music, arts, environmental, commnunity interests, as well as history, politics & Christian faith (we attend a small local church but we're not religious freaks!). I have children. You won't be expected to childmind, and I have child protection measures, as well as other safety measures that you will be required to follow. We have a very gentle beagle dog and two bold cats! The dog is allowed indoors and the cats stay outdoors (due to my allergy to cats - and the fact that they are too good at stealing food! - although our dog has learned this trick from the cats!). Just like the cats, we enjoy good food so you are very welcome to cook your favourite recipe! Many of our volunteers have been wonderful cooks, but that does not mean you have to be a good cook! I am sure you will bring your own gifts and skills. CLOTHING If you have never been to Ireland, it's a beautiful country, but can be wet [at times] - wait a minute, its dry ... nope, its raining! Please be sure to bring 1. your own pair of work boots 2. a warm waterproof jacket 3. Work gloves if you like to wear work gloves when working outside. THANK YOU HELPX! We are very grateful for all our volunteers work and friendship. I used to list all their names, but it now takes too much space! They know who they are and they know how grateful I am for their help and friendship! Thank you!
