Farming cooperative in British Colombia, Canada
Description
We are a farming cooperative with 4-15 members annually. Our organically managed farm lies next to a beautiful river. Work exchange is needed April-October. Our goal is to become as sustainable as possible. A large garden plays a significant part in our lives, both for fresh food in season, as well as the storage of food for the winter months. There are also a herd of 30 alpacas, 3 llamas, and 2 fabulous Great Pyrenees dogs. We typically shear the alpacas and llamas once per year.
Our farm is 540 acres/218 hectares in a remote rural area. However bus stops are 7 km away and train service is on site. There are hiking trails and wildlife is abundant in a spectacular mountain valley setting.

Travail
There are a wide range of tasks every year: some new and some annual farm maintenance. We expect everyone to help cook & clean as part of our daily life. We live in a forest. There is no smoking permitted and no pet visitors. We ask that all of our work exchange guests commit to a min. 2 week stay. Families are welcome.

Feedback left about host

We are a Cooperative with our values posted on our website. Glynnis wasn't in alignment with our values.
As a host we experienced Yvonne Heidler as a hard worker. However, we are a working farm. Her level of English proficiency made it difficult to describe work and schedules.
If you speak some German, I'm sure the host experience would improve.
