  Animal sitting near Elche, Alicante, Spain - 1 week in February 2024
  
  Hi there. Firstly, a little bit about us...... We are Sharon and Jason; a couple in our early fifties who are on our third renovation project in Spain. We did Workaway ourselves whilst travelling in a motorhome throughout Europe for 9 months about 11 years ago, and also hosted Workawayers during both renovation projects.
  
  Obviously you would have to understand that as this is a renovation project that things are definitely not perfect! There is rubble and dirt and all the additional 'joys' that come with renovating (though this is a minimal renovation compared to our other two)! The house is nice and comfortable but changes are going to made inside. The bathroom is being done as it is not the nicest (visualise tiny shower area and wet clingy shower curtain!). We´re not sure when this will be happening but please bear this in mind.... the renovations may not have happened by Feb, but if they have then the bathroom may still need fine tuning. If it hasn´t been done, then welcome to the smallest shower area you´ll have seen in a while!
  
  We are also hoping to install a pool, so same thing applies - work may have started so there may be more dirt and dust (and large holes!) than usual.
  
  We are going on a much needed holiday from 5 to 12 February. We need animal sitters (either a couple or an independent self sufficient person) to look after our animals - 3 dogs (one elderly) and 1 cat. As we are going away towards the start of February it will hopefully be nice during the day time but it will be cold at night. We do have gas fires but it might be best if you are comfortable getting wood together to make a fire in the log burner in the evenings. We appreciate that you might want to explore the area, but we would prefer someone who is happy to stay home most of the time in the evenings so that the animals can stay inside the house out of the cold (they have to stay outside on the terrace when we are out). We ask that you arrive a few days early to get to know the animals and find out their routine. We arrive back very late on our return so you are more than welcome to stay a day or so later after we have returned should you wish to.
  
  We may ask that you do a couple of odd jobs and tasks in our absence, but as you can see this is more of an animal sitting assignment.
  
  It would be best if you have your own transport as we are fairly isolated and there is no public transport to speak of. The little village of La Hoya is a 10 minute walk away and a locally renowned restaurant is only a 5 minute walk away but it is only open in the day time. The outskirts of Elche are a 5 minute drive away, La Marina beach 15 minutes away, and other little surrounding towns just a little further than that. Unfortunately we cannot accept anyone who has their own animals as our cat would not be happy!
  
  You would have your own bedroom and there's a good wifi connection. If you want excitement this may not be the place for you, but if you want to explore in the day time and then relax in the evening in front of an open fire or put on layers of clothes and sit on the terrace to look at the stars then this may be the place for you.

  We'd like to hope that we would all benefit from meeting one another. whatever nationality or background. If we can learn something from each other that would be brilliant, but to make new friends would be even better.
