    Description

Hey there! We are Petra and Eddie and our place is a truly unique sanctuary from the huzzle & bustle, a 1935 irrigated homestead located in a tiny village in the Southern Arizona Desert.

We have HUGE mesquite trees, providing valuable shade and 8 acres are irrigated pasture for our horses. We have a kitchen garden and are working on cultivating the one acre field behind the house to eventually supply our flower, veggie and fruit farm stand.

If you are looking for a farm that works with permaculture and regenerative farming principles… this is it! We have over 20 spoiled chickens, 3 pet geese, 3 dogs, 3 cats and 6 horses.

The Silver Mine Town Tombstone = where the famous OK Corral Shootout happened - is 20 minutes away and it’s fun to stroll down the boardwalk to reminisce the on location filmed ‘Tombstone’ movie. A 4o minute drive to Bisbee features an eclectic mix of artsy shops and restaurants with a fascinating copper mine that is over 900ft deep. The Kartchner Caverns (30 minutes) are worth visiting any time of the year and the Chiricahua National Monument (1 plus hour drive) as well as Texas Canyon provide amazing rock formations as a backdrop. We even have 8000 ft Massai Peak in our backyard with plenty of opportunities to hike… The Amarind Museum and research station focuses on Native American Culture and would be a great place to visit as well.

Tucson is an hour away via I-10 and we regularly visit the 7 Acres Botanical Garden and Natural Grocers there for our organic grocery needs.

We are happy to provide food according to your liking and dietary needs and a place to park your RV or setup your campsite. We are in the process of creating a tiny home, so please inquire how far we are along if you do not bring your ‘own housing’.

WE do have a tractor and farm truck to do all the heavy lifting. Chores range from taking care of the animals (feeding and cleaning), to working in the garden, field and pasture. This could be fence fixing or weed control or helping with irrigation and simply working and improving the farm according to permaculture and regenerative farming principles.

If you are into horses, Petra would be happy to share her 40+ year knowledge. Please know that we do not overly focus on riding our horses but on building an inter-connected relationship from the ground up, at liberty, where we give our horses the freedom of choice so they happily and willingly work and play with us!

If you have maintenance and repair skills, that would be amazing as there is always something to fix around the house and farm.

    Curious to learn more?

Send us a note and we would be happy to chat whether the farm is the next best place for you to be!

I am German and I live in the US. Leaving my home country to start from scratch has offered me unique life experiences. If you are interested in organic gardening, regenerative farming, home maintenance and renovation, practicing German and English... We're happy to share!

I would love to brainstorm to implement perma-culture and regenerative farming ideas at the Farm with like-minded workaways!

    Help

Strong helping hands around the garden, landscaping, DIY, repair and building projects and permaculture design will help us the most. Helping with feeding the animals will free up some office time for me... <3

Our guest cottage is usually reserved but would make it available for the right person. She is self sufficient with kitchen, 3/4 bathroom and bunk bedroom.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live in a rural area. Safeway is a 15 minute drive. I am happy to help with transportation as we go to town quite often. If you're a good driver, I wouldn't mind you using our stick shfit car with a valid driver's license when it's available.

The Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone, Bisbee, Cochise Stronghold and Chiricahua National Monument are close by and worth visiting. Many, many hiking trails are a short drive way. Tuscon is about an hour from here with many attractions.

    The Amtrak stops in town.

Due to previous experiences please understand that:

This Farm is our sanctuary, and we are happy to welcome guests. Please keep our space clean, leave it as you found it and respect our belongings. Please stick with what we agreed on - and if things change or you have a suggestion for improvements, feel free to share but please communicate PRIOR to putting things in action.

Please ASK if you are unsure, don't make assumptions. There are no stupid questions! <3

Open, clear communication is vital to getting along well and to have a great experience for host and workaway. If something doesn't work for you, please tell us, and together we can search for a solution that will benefit all involved. Honesty, clarity and integrity are a vital part of a successful visit. <3

I am happy to provide references from people who have previously stayed at my farm since not everybody leaves feedback here on the site.

PS: Sorry... No smoking of any kind on the property. Please enjoy alcohol responsibly.
