Area: LeinsterStay and help in an historic house, gardens and B&B. An historic house standing in it's own gardens and parkland. We've reopened the B&B 2012 to help preserve the house and gardens, but there is a lot of work yet to be done. 2013 was a lot busier than our first year, but we are not in touristy area so we have guests mainly on the weekends. Andrew is a horticulturalist and happy to share his knowledge. He has his own landscaping business, so is away from home a few days a week. Antoinette runs the B&B on top of a full time job in healthcare as a dietitian. Four friendly dogs and two kittens are our pets. WE ARE NOW ONLY LOOKING FOR HELP FROM EARLY OCTOBER ONWARDS

Area: Lower NormandyWe are an English family and have lived in France since the beginning of 2005. We are Richard, a retired forester; Sue, part-time teacher and Hannah, student and traveller. We live on a 5 ha small-holding and our intention is to be as self-sufficient as possible. During the winter months, we cut wood from the traditionally managed bocage hedgerows, to power our wood burners the following year. We have a small vegetable garden, that we are trying to enlarge and keep our own sheep and hens. We hope to have some pigs soon. Richard and Sue have both worked in the countryside over many years and believe in maintaining a balance between their needs and the needs of indigenous wildlife. Our own menagerie also includes two dogs, a cat (definitely 'The Boss"), a horse and a miniature horse. The property is an old farm complex and has several outbuildings, including a gite (a converted farmworker's cottage).
Area: Puerto Ayora, Isla Santa Cruz, Galápagos IslandsWORAWAY OPPORTUNITY CLOSED UNTIL THE NEXT JULY... but, you can start to learn more about the Reserva. About The Reserve- it's a sustainable model in the Galapagos Islands, and a place for exploration and learning. The Reserve is located in the Santa Cruz Island, in Galapagos. It's managed by a Non-Profit organization, which has its main purpose to build a demonstrative and replicable model for the coexistence of people and their environment. We work on ecologic restoration, organic agriculture, education, training and conflict management among other aspects relevant to a sustainable lifestyle. The Reserve promotes the assumption of sustainable technologies and lifestyle among the inhabitants of the Islands, fundamentally of those who inhabit in the rural areas. The Reserve is also a development center for the research and invention of technologies for sustainability, that will be introduced and passed onto the community through training and educational program. The feasibility of recuperating agricultural area and transforming it into natural ecosystems, maintaining an income through these ecosystems, motivates farmers to recuperate these areas and at the same time controling invasive species. We need volunteers for: Gerenal Mainteinence, Cleaning Common Areas, House Keeping, Kitchen / Chef (main cook) assistant, and a chef of course. No visitor (including Ecuadorian) is allowed to stay more than 3 months here in the Galápagos, but if a volunteer wants to stay from 6 months to one year, we can help you to get a temporary residency as a PASSERS (Transeúnte) to stay here. That is great opportunity to enable you to travel in between the mainland and Galapagos any time within the year. For user/travelers who can provide a scanned copy of proof/ certification of any previous volunteer experience with other NGOs, or with referrals from Workaway.info ... is a plus...
