    Description

We are a family who live in a beautiful little mountain village in the northwest of Sweden, above the Arctic Circle. We are two parents, Magdalena and Tor-Henrik, and we have two kids who are 7 and 8. We have 10 sleddogs, a house dog, two cats and two pet rabbits.

We live in the middle of beautiful nature surrounded by mountains, lakes and forests, and serveral different hiking trails start directly from our village. We live close to Sarek National Park, and big hiking trails like Kungsleden (King’s Trail) and Padjelantaleden.

We are a family with a lot of different interests. Tor-Henrik is a Sámi archaeologist who works in the Mountain Rescue. We are interested in music, reading books, hiking and kayaking. I (Magdalena) am interested in gardening and work in our garden every day, always working on new little projects. I grow vegetables, flowers, berries, fruits and perennials.

We would love to have someone to help us with our animals and our garden, and also with the kids as we think it’s great that they learn to speak English from a young age. Our kids are friendly and sociable, and are interested in outdoor activities, Minecraft, they love Harry Potter and they also like to play Chess.

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Workawayer to join our family and help us with the daily chores.

    - Feeding the animals.
    - Keeping the animals spaces clean.
    - Take dogs for hikes.
    - Helping in the garden.
    - Cooking dinner sometimes.
    - House sitting occasionally if we need to go away for a few days.

We are looking for a Workawayer who is friendly, reliable and sociable, loves to be outdoors and can enjoy the peaceful lifestyle in a small village.

You need to be used to dogs. Our dogs are happy and super friendly but they are big and energetic! Being able to stay calm and confident around dogs is important.

We would like that you are able to speak English at a good level as we would like our kids to learn good English. (In case you actually speak Swedish or Norwegian it is also great of course.)

Hunting and fishing are part of the local lifestyle and most our meals are based on local meat or fish. It is easiest for us to host Workawayers who can eat the same food that we eat, so it is a bit difficult if you are a strict vegan or vegetarian.

    Non smokers only.

There are lots of great possibilities for various outdoor activities here. Hiking or trail running, longer or shorter trails. Canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding. It is possible to go on day hikes in the mountains straight from the village. We will provide you with all the info you need!

The closest little town is called Jokkmokk and is 103 kilometers away from our village. In Jokkmokk you can find supermarkets, small shops, a nice mountain and Sámi museum, a nice Alpine Garden and some various restaurants. In the summertime there are daily buses to Jokkmokk.

It is important that you are able to entertain yourself with your own activities in your free time.
