    Description

Hi! I'm Saskia, I am principally a street theatre performer, puppeteer and tap dance/lindy hop teacher and I live part time with my 17 year old daughter Dixie Lu. Next door lives a lovely French young couple with their 2 year old girl .In the double decker bus lives a circus and dance performer. Other lovely folk are coming and going at various times, meaning that this can be a dynamic place sometimes.

We live not far from Montbrun Bocage. This village and surroundings are a bit like living in community ,as we help each other, and there are always get togethers, little concerts, etc., to meet interesting people from all over the world .

We're in the process of creating a (semi!) self sufficient space that will integrate a creation studio, a workshop space for different classes/retreats , and various accommodations with vegetable growing and some keeping of animals (at the moment we have 4 cats and 2 donkeys!). The land is 4 hectare wild woodland and 1 hectare sloping prairie.

The help that needs to be doing is mainly building projects (traditional and non traditional methods), and woodland work (clearing, wood collection, building steps, walkways, cabins). It's more or less all outdoor work. Anyone with building / carpentry experience, or with permaculture knowledge would be especially welcome.

We love to exchange skills! You will be in a beautiful surrounding, in full nature in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, get to know the donkeys, experience how to live in a community (meaning, around the local village) with a local artisan market, lovely people who like to live off grid, enjoy a basic life style...

  • Help

    Help

We always need help with general maintenance (some strimming, veg garden chores, woodland etc), up keeping the buildings, chopping and splitting wood, some computer tasks, and building various wooden structures.
The help is varied and seasonal, and always (usually!) fun.

    Accommodation

We have a London Double Decker Bus with accommodation upstairs and downstairs, with kitchen and wood burner, and a lovely 1960's caravan for 2 . If that's all full there is also small bell tent available. The communal toilet is a compost toilet, and there is a communal solar shower.
All the accommodation is warm, dry, and cosy!

    What else ...

Where we are is kind of remote, would be good to have a vehicle but definitelly not crucial.
The project is happening as it unfolds, i.e. it's improvised! We live near the village of Montbrun Bocage which is a kind of Shangri-La, there is a wonderful market on Sundays and lots of great characters live in the area, including Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese and Thai speakers.
We are vegetarian, therefore all meals will be meat free.
