We are looking for WORK PAIRS ideally a married couple. We have a hobby farm on beautiful Vancouver Island, with bicycles you can borrow, easy buses to Victoria's beautiful Inner Harbour but also easy access to walking trails and the natural beauty of the island. You will each contribute 3 hours of help a day. Winter help we require is mainly maintaining and repairing tools and equipment, painting, housekeeping, cooking. We are quiet, and hope to find like-minded people who prefer reading or hiking to pubs or parties. If you want to know more, write to me. Come to beautiful Victoria, Conde Naste number one North American destination.
We have WIFI 24/7 (unless there is a storm) and we have a rigidly non-smoking home and farm. We have a zero tolerance policy for drug use and for DAILY alcohol consumption. Mondays are usually "beer and burger" nights and Fridays are "jug wine" nights. We have consistently found that people who need to keep hard liquor with them at all times are NOT a good fit for our lifestyle.
We ask volunteers to work 3 hours a day
that leaves ample time to explore our beautiful island
we have bikes to loan and are on 4 good bus routes for $2.50 you can be
nearly anywhere on the south island in an hour or less

You will each contribute 3 hours of help a day. Winter help we require is mainly maintaining and repairing tools and equipment, painting, housekeeping, cooking. We are quiet, and hope to find like-minded people who prefer reading or hiking to pubs or parties. My husband is a retired college professor who fell from an apple tree in Sept 2011 and was in an extended coma. Not expected to live, he is now a walking talking miracle. He putters on the farm and needs accompaniment most of the time. If you like literature and/or want to practice English, he loves to read and be read to.
Our home is set up as a duplex; wwoof-type helper have 3 bedroom 1.5 bath private quarters, wifi provided. We provide 3 hearty farm meals a day, sharing the noon meal but providing "heat and eat" for the end of the day so that you are free to explore/enjoy the island. During the growing season we take 4 people max. From November to March we would prefer just two, and ideally a mature married couple.

I spent a few weeks at carol and fred. I appreciate their hospitality very much. felt like home. Someday I hope to get back again. only the best for you.
Carol and Fred are some of the most amazing people you will ever meet. During my stay, they were incredibly helpful in pointing out places to go/see, and they treat you as if you were family. I couldn't have had a better start to my workaway experience.
GRAB TOM !
When he works, he puts in 120%.
His requests for direction are appropriate - he doesn't mess up a project with too much "Rambo" and he doesn't consume your own time by too much "what next" and "is this right."
At leisure, he is a joy. So many young travelers are actually just consumers, frantically out to "own" the next
