Area: NormandyCan still take a few more helpers this year - particularly from September onwards - and ready to accept help anytime in 2015. I am the proprietor of a large Chambres d'Hotes in a quiet village in Southern Normandy, just north of the town of Avranches. I was formerly a teacher (Head of Business and Economics in a large Comprehensive school) in England but have now organised a busy Bed and breakfast business here in Normandy. I have a french business partner, and a brother and other family living in the neighbouring village of Montviron. The village is quite small and provides a peaceful and relaxing environment. You are invited to come and work with us, providing a quality service for our guests in a beautifully restored barn in some lovely Normandy countryside! Le Luot is about 90 minutes from the Channel Ports of Caen and Cherbourg, and 3 hours from Paris. Its peaceful, quiet but a great place to live!!! There is work to be done mainly in the house but also in the garden. There are rooms to clean and prepare - and meals to cook. The work takes time but should prove enjoyable and relaxing. Our guests represent many different nationalities. Above all we look after our guests! and it would help if you can speak some conversational french. Hours of work vary considerably but we always make sure that our workaway helpers are properly looked after and shown all the places of local interest including Mont St Michel, the D-Day Landing Beaches and Saint Malo.
Area: Normandy, FranceWe are a friendly, lively family of four: Alison, John and two teenage kids, Ben and Maddy. We have lived in Normandy for nearly 20 years and would be very happy to welcome you to this beautiful part of France. Set in an idyllic cider apple orchard with resident barn owls, this is a great base for exploring Normandy with it D-Day sites, Bayeux Tapestry and lots more! We are really close to a local green way which goes all the way to the Mont-Saint-Michel and are happy to lend you our bikes. Vire, our local town, has a decent sized swimming pool, cinema, theatre and bowling alley. The local food is great and we all enjoy sitting down together in the evening for dinner or a barbecue. Getting here couldn't be easier. The nearest train station is in Vire, about 15 minutes away and there is a regular train service to Paris. Alternatively the Channel ports with sailings to and from the UK are only an hour's drive away. A bientôt!
Area: SkagafjordurWe live in a beautiful area in the northern part of Iceland called Skagafjörður. Our farm is an expanding dairy farm but me and my husband are taking over the business from my parents which also live here (separate houses). We have four children, two small and two grown (16 and 17 years). The smaller ones are a 10 months old girl and a boy of 3 years. My husband works full time on the farm but I´m an elementary school teacher and my work starts in mid august. My children will both be at kindergarten but the girl cant start immediately. That is one of the reasons why we need the help. We need someone to look after the smaller children at times and someone who is willing to take part in all kinds of work around the farm. Milking cows and helping out with the sheep but also able to help around the house and make occasional meal. Minimum time spent with us is 6 weeks but we would like to get someone who can stay with us from end august until Christmas or around that. We are a likable bunch and have a very lively household with a lot of laughter. The best way to get to know us a little bit better is to contact me and I will answer all of your questions.
Area: British ColumbiaOur historic ranch is located in the scenic San Jose River valley. It is 1200 acres of meadows and woods with a (small) river running through it. We use holistic management practices on our ranch. Our cattle are grass-fed using management intensive grazing with portable electric fence. We do not use herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and our cattle are not given growth hormones. We are committed to ranching in a sustainable manner and strive to improve the health of our soil through good management practices.
Area: AucklandAfter becoming hooked on hosting and meeting lots of CouchSurfers I thought that WorkAway may be a better way to host - by getting my daily tasks done quicker and then being available to chill out, chat, show you around and potentially have some cool adventures!!! After all, I am a traveler as well and I understand that you are here to experience Auckland and enjoy it rather than work it away in some secluded place. I want to get to know you, teach you a few things, work together, have fun and enjoy each other’s company. :::WHAT I CAN OFFER YOU::: -- Accommodation -- Food -- Free WiFi Internet -- Computer -- Work experience -- Learning -- Helping you out with Local Knowledge -- Showing you around -- Chatting -- Deep and Meaningful Conversations -- Chilling -- Having a few Drinks -- Having Fun Depending on when you are here I can possibly take you: -- Mt Biking -- Rally Racing -- Boating (Fishing, WakeBoarding etc) -- Snowboarding -- Camping -- Going Out -- Other Fun Activities or events that come up Please note that I am flexible and very willing to give you my time when you are in town, but please understand that showing you around or doing something fun etc does use fuel so I would appreciate a contribution for fuel used while driving for you : ) :::TIME WORKING PER DAY::: You are not obliged to work anymore than an average of 4.5 hours a day. I hope we can just work in with each other’s schedules to offer a fairly flexible work environment. :::TYPE OF PEOPLE I WANT TO HOST::: Fun, easy going, keen to learn, loving life, open, wanting to meet people, someone that I can connect with and have in-depth conversations with. Someone who is different and who wont settle to the standard life that society seems to dictate to us. :::LENGTH OF STAY::: Because this is more about meeting people and having new experiences, I believe that 2-4 days is a good amount to time to start with in regards to getting to know each other, getting some work done and showing you around. :::FOOD (Available for you to cook/make)::: Breakfast – Toast and Eggs or Oats Lunch – Bread, Tomato, Lettuce or Soup Dinner – Meat or Pasta with either Salad or Mixed Vegetables :::ABOUT ME::: Loving life and living the extraordinary dream. Recently arrived back from traveling South America (read my realizations below) Adventurous, Gentle, Self Motivated, Energetic, Keen to try Anything, Trustworthy, Honest. Interested in most things from Cooking to Rally Car Racing to Dancing to Spirituality to Personal Growth to a balanced healthy life. I enjoy great conversations and anything Outdoors or Practical. During my last trip I came to the realization that most of my drive for travel is more about the people I meet and the experiences and adventures we share rather than the sights I see. So what better way to continue my developing journey than to host and meet travelers in my home town before I head off overseas again. I believe we should all be doing what we love and aim for the ultimate lifestyle of being flexible while enjoying life and growing from it. My interests Include: Snowboarding, Learning/Growing/Developing, Alternative Ways to Living and Thinking, Boating, Rally Racing, WakeBoarding, Dancing (Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Modern Jive), Travel, Spirituality, Scuba Diving, Meeting People, Healthy Living, Business, Love, People, Different Views and Outlooks on Life, Listening to Music, Documentaries, Technology, Karaoke, Conversations, Nature, Free Hugs, Road Trips, Hiking, Camping, Fishing, Adventure, Cooking. :
