Volunteer with alpacas in Germany
Description
We have about 30 alpacas, 2 dogs, numerous cats. Animals are part of our lives and so is their hair :-) So if you are allergic to cats or dogs, or even dust and hay, you should consider a different place to stay.
There is no public transportation, but usually there are lots of young people here, so you should not be bored. The area is great for hiking and cycling. The Rhine River, famous for its old castles and ruins is not too far away and we would love to take you there.
If you consider to stay with us, you should be able to stay for 2 weeks minimum. Exceptions are possible sometimes.
One last thing: We love dogs, however, it will not be possible that you bring your own dog, since one of our dogs will not tolerate other dogs in our house, sorry!

You can do anything from gardening, taking care of the animals, house remodeling, cooking etc.
There is all kinds of work to do at our 400 year old farm, which we bought only a few years ago. Your job would mainly be to take care of the alpacas (clean the barn and feed them), but there are lots of other things to help with according to your skills and preference. The work you do is physical work and can be quite hard at times, but of course there will be plenty of time to relax.

Dave, yeeah!!! He came highly motivated and even though he could only stay for two weeks, he made an everlasting impression. It seemed like he had this secret source of energy, which seemed to never end... He could fix all kinds of things, no work seemed too hard for him, and still he was always up for a joke and in a good mood. He loved the dogs more

"Wow" is exactly what we would say about Martin as well. From the first moment on we felt like long-time friends. He is a very responsible, creative workawayer, who takes initiative and comes up with some interesting projects, such as pressing alpaca poop into molds and making heating material from it. Great!!!! Salva spent two weeks with us and decided to come back, which was the answer to our prayers, since we missed him so much when he left. Salva is the most amazing workawayer you can imagine. He is polite, trustworth, hardworking, funny, is great with animals, does things that were not even asked for. He emptied the dish-washer before I even got up more
Johanna stayed with us for a few weeks and was just excellent with all our animals. For me the four weeks I spent at this farm were a perfect first workaway, and one that will be very hard to top. Billie and Julia are so welcoming and warm, and they really made me feel at home from day one. They also did their best to answer all my questions about the alpacas, and if I ever become an alpaca vet it's thanks to them :)

I spent 5 weeks with Billie and Julia and their 26 alpacas. It was a great experience and I highly recommend going to stay there. The work was enjoyable and not too hard. Most of the work was to do with the alpacas-cleaning the barn, feeding them etc There were also other tasks like gardening to do, and it was flexible around what you enjoyed to more
Jess was another great helper. She did everything that needed to be done and more than that. She cooked even though she said she didn't know how to :-) All the animals loved her and so did we. Jess learned quckly and she is an easy-going person, always friendly and always in a good mood. Thank you Jess for all your help and we hope you are having more

We were as well lucky to host Sarah. We had a wonderful time with her and during her stay she became like another daughter for me. Sarah was working hard and still always in a good mood, smiling and singing with her wonderful voice. She was great with all our animals and after getting over the smell of alpaca poop :-) I guess she even liked to more
We could only spend a week at the farm, which was such a shame as we had a WONDERFUL time there. Billy is so generous and she fills the place with her laughter! This was my first workaway experience and I did not expect to meet such cool, interesting and warm people. I had so much fun with Billie and Julia, and all the other assorted people coming and going at Brucklocherhof. The work was just as it is described on the profile, nothing was a shock. If Angie is inquiring for a job at your farm or house, you better accept her quickly because you'll miss out on something if you don't have her stay with you. Here I learned a lot about alpacas, and Sibylle even showed me how to train with them which was very interesting to see! She has very good knowledge and experience about alpacas!
