I am a self-employed architect living and working in the beautiful English Lake District. I have two daughters who are university students and a black labrador dog, Fred.
We live in a five-bedroom house that I designed and built in 2003. The house is situated on a hill above the towns of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere with views of Lake Windermere. It is a very calm and relaxing place to live.
We are very active and enjoy the outdoor opportunities available living in such a beautiful area. We sail racing dinghies on the lake and enjoy walking the dog and taking the bikes out in the mountains.
Teaching English to German-speaking students in secondary schools throughout the alpine region of Austria for a not-for-profit organization headquartered in the Austrian Lake District, made famous by the Sound of Music. All expenses paid. TEFL Certification included.
An independent, indigenous, interdenominational and non-governmental organisation with the focus on restoring dignity to vulnerable children by parenting them and providing medical care and education. Alongside our orphanage, the center also cares for poor children throughout the community and supports them with scholastic material and nourishment.
Our orphanage offers a safe environment, a roof over the head and true care for the children, which gives them the opportunity to recover from their mostly tragic past and of being a child finally. We are ensuring the free mental development of them by counseling, guidance and spending much time with an open ear.
We moved from the UK in 2005. We restored an old farmhouse (Quinta) and now have a Bed and breakfast with 6 suites with room for 16 guests. We have our own vineyard with 6000 vines. The property has an area of 7 hectare with the river Pavia along one part of the property. We have 2 dogs,Womble and Lottie,(bit of an over grown puppy)We also have 3 cats.
We have our own chickens (for eggs) ducks and a goose
We have a large veg garden where we grow most of our fruit and veg for our guests. We make all sorts of jams and chutney.
We are a blended family with Paul's daughters staying with us every other week. I work from home (I am a translator of Swedish to English) and have been a music teacher, and Paul is an acupuncturist practising traditional Chinese medicine. Button our dog half Pomeranian, half Maltese terrier and Monty our very friendly and cuddly Burmese cat make up the family. We have a big home, love visitors and a bigger garden that needs lots of work. We would be happy to provide help with English conversation, and we live close a number of lovely beaches and national parks/rainforest.
