    Description

Hello. I am Sovannarith , the founder and director of the place, a children's charity located in the countryside near Siem Reap. I speak English and want to educate our children with a key focus on language skills like English, Chinese and computer skills to give them a better chance in the future. I believe it is very important to help our children to be successful. I also run a food program once a month to provide food to the poor and unable people. I hope with extra funding this organization will be able to grow and expand reaching out to more children and extra lessons.
I have been running this NGO since 2011 but am in need of volunteers to help this project grow. Anyone who would like to come and support me or teach other languages to the children are very welcome. We have classrooms where most of our lessons take place, this is where you can teach the children.

Hi. I am Shinsuke called Harry, from Japan and working for Sovannarith and the school as a volunteer Volunteer Manager. I have been working here since 2016 until now. I see that the school does need helps, volunteers and fundraisers so the school can keep moving toward. Thanks for your kindness and opened heart to join us.

Hello. I am Sean, from Ireland and working for Sovannarith and the school as a volunteer IT, Website Developer. I am happy to work here because I see that everything is for the kids. All your help is to better students to have the better future. Welcome everyone to work together to make a difference!

Volunteers will be accepted directly by Sovannarith; to have volunteers for all classes A and B.

Please send me a message and you will be accepted directly! I will reply as soon as possible so please look out for my reply.

    We teach young children 2 hours in the morning from 7.30am to 8.30am and 8.30am to 9.30am and 1.30pm to 2.30pm, 2.30pm to 3.30pm, 3.30pm to 4.30pm and 6.00 to 7.00pm.

Teaching from Monday to Friday. Volunteers will allow to teach only 4 or 5 hours a day. 5 days a Week. Teaching hours will divide with other volunteer teachers.
We teach students from 6 to 17 years old.

Note: volunteers have not allowed to rent motorbikes or scooters drive to the village or to school during doing volunteer work with us because it has been banned by the laws. And also there has been many accident cases.

    Transportation Service is available for:

    1. Angkor Small Tour
    2. Angkor Big Tour
    3. Floating Village Tour
    4. Meng Melea Temple Tour
    5. Bonteay Srey Temple Tour
And other tourist destinations. So all volunteers will be easier to seeing touring things during volunteering as well.

W accept volunteers who wish to do a short stay or long stay though the long stay is preferred (minimum is one week). We would be happy to give you a tour of our school at any time.

In addition to this, a certificate is provided as proof of involvement with the school and I can be used as a reference for any teaching jobs you may want to apply for in the future. The school is the ideal place as a starting point for anyone holding a TEFL certificate as it offers the opportunity to practice teaching skills and classroom management, although we do welcome anyone to join - whether you have any prior experience/teaching certificate or not.

Accommodation is provided in Homestay as a Cambodian family along with three meals a day, we do ask for a little contribution everyday towards food costs.

We welcome all volunteers and look forward to meeting you.

We welcome smokers and non-smokers alike but smoking is not allowed inside the house.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As a volunteer, travelers will learn about Cambodia culture and customs, as well as have the opportunity to help children learn. Often, there are many students but not enough teachers. Volunteers can increase their overall teaching skills and have the perspective from being involved in teaching in an area where there is poverty. In addition, volunteers can learn how to fix and build homes, and know that families in need are being helped.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You can stay at the director’s Inn. You will have 3 meals, water and the internet.

The room accommodation is a dormitory type. Meaning, you might share a room should there be other volunteers. No worries though, we have a separate room for the gents and the ladies.

The inn is the main source of funding for the charity. So, we also have a “premium” option for accommodation by offering a private room if you prefer not to share accommodation. If you would like this, pls contact us.

We accept volunteers who pledge to stay at least 1 week.

Lastly, as mentioned, the Inn is the main funding source of the charity. In order to make this sustainable, we deemed it’s necessary to bundle the accommodation price with tuk-tuk service. Meaning, you will be fetched by the Director to and from Siem Reap city for $10 and 15$ from the airport.

Thank you so much and hope you can meet the students soon!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Volunteers can visit the many sights around Siem Reap including the Angkor temples, local markets, as well other villages near town. Tourism is high so it is easy to meet many people from other countries as well to make friends while here. It is very inexpensive to take local tuk tuks around all of Siem Reap or buses to other cities like Phnom Penh.
