Area: Northern CaliforniaOur home is located in Lakeport, CA - a well-kept secret in a little-known wonderful wine-growing and boating community. I am a certified teacher of English to foreign speakers, and so I enjoy opportunities to teach English and to learn other languages - especially French and Spanish. I am reviving a large rock garden, restoring a fountain and cascading water feature, patching and painting the interior and exterior of the cottage and replacing a wood fence this summer. We need help with planning and completing an outdoor backyard retreat for visitors who will come for personal retreats to relax, study, meditate or rejuvenate. There are several areas of the garden where we want to design and create mini sanctuaries for relaxation or just "being." We especially need workers who are somewhat creative as this is not just about labor. If you love designing a garden or just want to help by weeding and planting that would be lovely. A minimum stay of 5-10 days would assure that projects are completed. Work-awayers are invited to participate with us in weekend outings which are mostly wine-tasting, theater, boating and hiking. The town of Lakeport has very limited public transportation. A drivers license would be helpful but not necessary. There are bicycles available for cruising around town. Musicians are also welcome. We have an old baby grand piano, a guitar, and a cello available . And if you like to sing - that's okay too!. Visitors will enjoy that the place is within walking distance of the center of town which has a coffee shop, cafes, bars, a used bookstore and other small shops. Wi-Fi internet access is available. Massage, acupuncture and yoga or Pilates classes are all provided at locations within walking distance.
Area:We were normal people with normals lives until we wanted to make a change in our lives... for this reason we left our "civilized lives in the city" to live in our 120 he. plot of native woodland at the foot of the Andes Mountains with no cellular signal, no internet and almost no communication with the "outside world", but with a plenty of fun and mostly a lot of connection to pure nature. We recently launched our ECO Proyect; our Goal: to live where almost nobody lives!... healthily and in freedom and peace with the nature :) but to do so, we need to produce something and give something to the world in exchange... thats why we are looking for your help! aside from improve our (or maybe your) language skills and share nice moments at the end of the world.. we want to clean and improve our plot to bring tourists in the future, produce our own food, build self-sustainable houses, and help the forest to grow healthy.
Area: TaranakiWe are a couple in our mid fifities, ex dairy farmers and live on a lifestyle block of land (4 acres) out in the country. Our house is only seven years old and we have a large extensive country garden, we have a lovely small flowing river right on our boundary. We travel to Wales from March to June every year where we work on several dairy farms doing the mating management, we usually travel around Europe before we head home July/August. We also do AI on dairy farms here in New Zealand from October to early December. Mt Taranaki is on our doorstep, we are located 740 metres off State Highway 3, the nearest small town 5 minutes down the road. We are a twenty minute drive to New Plymouth, a city with a beautiful park, a lovely coastal walkway, great swimming at the local beaches. In our area we have lots of great walks, several lakes to explore and mountain tracks. We would love to show our guests the local area and what Taranaki has to offer.
