My husband and I live in a small 3 bedroom house, with 2 bathrooms, and a nice yard. We do have 8 dogs, little dogs, under 10 pounds each, who live with us, inside, and some cats who live outside in the back yard and patio. We are quiet people, we are not complicated, my husband works but I am retired. We like to go to the beaches in the Florida Keys and other places in Florida. We don't smoke, drink alcohol, occasional glass of red wine we do not entertain. We have learned that we need longer commitments for a stay and now request a minimum of one month, preferably 2 or 3 months, because the coming and going of strangers in our home is disruptive to family life and to our little dogs as well. We are a private family, we are not a hotel not a hostel, and it does take time to learn how to care for our little dogs, where things are, how to use them and how to get about also in the area. Mostly we just enjoy the quiet life. We neither use vulgarity in any language, nor behavior. We don't watch explicit film nor have that on TV in our house either. You have nothing to fear when you come to live with us. I have a college education, my husband also is an educated man. This is a modest little home in a quiet, middle class neighborhood. But, It is the gateway to Everything Florida and Everything Miami.Region: Veliko Tarnovo/Gorna Oryahovitsa
We are a lively and sociable couple who have lived in Bulgaria for over 5 years after emigrating from the UK. We have a 5 acre plot of land that needs work and can offer accommodation to volunteers in a 2 bed roomed self contained bungalow. Or in our own home. Currently we have 2 horses, a donkey, 5 dogs, chickens and 3 cats, plus we do breed pigs and raise them for the table. We need help with some small building and maintenance projects, gardening (organically), tree pruning and animal care etc. During some summer months we could do with some help to harvest produce from the garden and also for haymaking etc. There's also some decorating in the house and outside tidy up or prettifying jobs to do. We are not artistic but would love it if you wanted to do some artwork here. We can offer archery lessons (traditional English long bows), have a small plunge pool for use in the summer months and hope to have a sauna installed for the cooler months. Please note archery will only be available if we have the time. We enjoy a fairly healthy diet, a good laugh and the occasional beer with wonderful home cooked and produced food. Would you like to learn more about cooking or rural living while helping us a few hours a day in return for board and lodging? I love to cook and try new recipes, we also make jams and preserve foods and brew rakia (Bulgarian Brandy). Please note that we are smokers and eat meat. We try to recycle and re-use what we can and produce as little waste as possible. We are trying hard to use less power, water and packaged products. We would prefer volunteers who are able to work on their own initiative and do not need constant supervision. Currently we are looking for motivated, enthusiastic people to come and help with animal care, fencing, building a road and some land clearance. We have lots of plans this year and also hope to build a new pig house and pen, shelter for the horses and who knows what else! Your input, ideas and experiences are welcomed as we try to become more self sufficient and ecologically friendly. Please note we do NOT supply alcohol/tobacco products or luxury items but you may bring/supply your own. We now have broadband and a wifi connection After a wonderful volunteer season in 2012 where we made some great friends we'd really like to offer a longer term stay to 1-3 volunteers who are interested in helping with an eco project we'd like to get off the ground asap. So if that sounds like you please send us a message. Also available is a 1 acre landshare for those who'd truly like to experience Bulgarian rural life for at least 6 months to a year.Region: Tuscany
