We are a family of 4 living in the suburbs of Newcastle about 10 mins from the local beaches. We with our 2 kids (4yo & 6yo) enjoy bicycling and going to the beach. We attend a local church each week and our eldest daughter is now in a local kindergarten Right Now we are looking for helpers in the January period to help withi a little light building type work, painting and that sort of thing. Our home and business is connected. We own a small but dynamic design house in rural Eastern Ontario. We are a design family with interests in the outdoors and preservation of our natural heritage. Our designs include elements of sustainability as it relates to caring for the earth and being resourceful. Hans is a restoration architect, Carolyn a designer using tires and other discarded materials and Jake is a student and outdoor enthusiast (canoe/kayaker). We also have a cat, Tiger. Together we live in and around our studio/gallery. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their artistic interests to the work here. You will have access to many types of materials and have the opportunity to learn many skills. We are away from Aug 20 - Sept 20. Please do not apply between these dates.

Ours is a hostel in the scenic Burren region of Co. Clare in the west of Ireland. It is a rural area with the nearest town 15 klms away. We have a mix of hostel and budget B&B / Self catering. We also have a farm where we have suckler type cows rearing the calves. Carron has a church, national school, and pub/restaurant. There are also other tourism related businesses in and around Carron. The Burren perfumery,Caherconnell stone fort and the Cusack centre. We use renewable energies and are an eco friendly business.

We are currently seeking volunteers for the 2013 season. We are keen to hear from people with "Hotel" type skills, cleaning, making beds, tidying the gardens, kitchen help and being part of the welcoming Team for our guests. Our place provides a very different kind of holiday experience for most people. We are not a luxury resort hotel, just a very old farm where we entertain a few guests. We believe that the essence of this place is the feeling of a shared community that develops after a very short time between most of our guests and the Team. The guests and workawayers often eat together, go shopping or take trips together. It is people with the skills to help our guests get the most out of their time that we hope will join us. We have space for two volunteer workers (or a couple plus 1 other) to help with a variety of odd jobs around and looking after our guests. We will be open from April till the end of October. Although around and about at the place clothing is a purely optional accessory, the emphasis is on the word optional, there's never any pressure on guests or workaways who simply feel more comfortable wearing clothes.
