    Description

We are a couple living in a small village 8km from the next small town. We bought the old farm house as a family sixteen years ago and now we live here running a wool business and working from home most of the time.

We are living almost self sustained (regarding meat, veggies, electricity and some other stuff) by having a greenhouse, big garden, poultry and sheep. We do a lot of things with wool from the area and are interested in a lot of other old handcrafts. We have a carpenters and a metal workshop in one of our barns. A lot of space is available for living and working. Fridays is our pizza evening and we are making the pizza in our woodfire clay oven

During most of the year we need help in the house, with the animals and in the garden. From November to mid of February we normally do not host - please look at our calendar.
We also like to share our knowledge about the things we do here (e.g. wool processing, organic farming, self sustainability).

While staying with us you can learn a lot about living self sustainable. You can learn how to work with animals.
We are living here in a small village with a lovely neighborhood. Most of the neighbors are speaking English too and they are always keen on meeting workawayers.

You are integrated in every day life - it is like a big family. You can use bikes and wireless internet access (or the computer) .
We request a minimum stay of three to four weeks. However if you want to experience a self sustained live style including seeding and harvesting, feeding and slaughtering you should consider staying longer.
The food we have is mainly from our own garden and from our own animals. If we have to buy things we try to buy regional and organic. Please be aware that we are not able to provide a full vegetarian or vegan diet here!
If you are primarily looking for a place to learn german you should consider that we do like to speak english with you and that in the small towns near by are no courses offered to learn german!
The nearest airport is Hamburg (HAM) which is aprox. two hours away by train.
The best route to get to us is by train via "Lueneburg" the train takes an hour from Lueneburg to
"Dannenberg Ost". This is 10km away from us and we can pick you up by car.
If you come from Berlin there is a train going to Salzwedel. From there you take a bus to Lüchow. This is 8km away from us and we can pick you up by car.
