Area: Valencian Community
Hola, we are Trixie and Allan.
Our house is named after 'the Window', the huge hole at the top of Mt La Safor, one and a half hours from Valencia or Alicante airport. We're on the disused railway from the port of Gandia (vibrant city, medieval markets, theatre, cinema, concerts, great restaurants and bars, shopping centre, train station... half an hour away from us), to Alcoy... 13 kms of unsurpassed, limestone crags, Moorish terraces, punctuated by five exciting tunnels hugging the Rio Serpis gorge to Lorcha We're in the Cirq de La Safor... a huge crater said to be an 'energy door' like 'Machu Piccu'
We share our house with rental guests in the summer months; then we live in the studio apartmente below the main house. (You would stay there when we go away... our summer cleaners do all the 'change overs') It has a separate entrance, courtyard with trees and terraced organic gardens with fruit trees down to the river...great for wild swimming!
Occasionally, in the winter, Trixie likes to visit family and go back to UK to work as a live in carer, leaving Allan, two dogs, two cats, a rabbit and a woodburning stove... to fend for themselves in this beautiful place. Then she needs someon a 'stand-in' for her at home .
Our house is eco-friendly (solar panels) and our organic terraces and trees could also do with a supporter!
In winter you would be upstairs, with us, in the main house (four bedrooms, two bathrooms). In summer you could take over our studio apartment and house/dog sit, while we go away, occasionally, when we fhave guests.
Allan had a heart transplant 26 yrs ago and was a teacher and loved climbing, running, cycling, swimming, sailing and kayaking, theatre and, after the transplant, worked as a volunteer with the less able in all of these. He's still a champion swimmer (in the Transplant Games) but he's now in need of support and companionship and a few beers with a helpful supporter when Trixie occasionally goes to work in UK for two or three weeks, at a time, in winter and needs a 'stand in' at home.
Trixie ran a restaurant and has worked with adults with learning and physical disabilities. She taught in a Steiner/Waldorf school. She sings, writes, draws, spins wool, knits (Fareisle and Aran) and sews. She'd like to share skills and loves cooking, baking and making bread, walking, swimming in the river, meditation and yoga.
Come and visit to see if you'd like to spend time with our remarkable family and help when Trixie is here.
Bienvenido to our wild river gorge and our home.
