I have my own bungalows on a small organic farm in rural Chiang Mai and am happy to share the experience of organic farming and sustainable living with anybody who is interested in volunteering to help! I'm still new to organic farming and would appreciate any help and experience that people can provide. Volunteers with experience in organic farming are preferred as then we can share our knowledge and learn together! I also assign a volunteers to help local people's farms follow the seasons. I also run a non-profit volunteer working programme providing opportunities for teaching English in local hill tribes schools and offering medical help to ethnic minority villagers. I was born in Mae Jeam district and spent almost eight years in the temple as a novice monk before going on to study for a BA in Tourism Industry Management. We are Ged and Karen, an English couple with a young daughter looking for a couple of able bodies and minds to help with a brand new project. Having lived around the world, from Moscow to Kuala Lumpur it is time to settle in one place for a while! We’ve had an amazing experience over the last year with workaways some of whom are I’m sure going to be friends for life! Our vision is to develop a mixed smallholding (pigs, sheep and poultry) with a small eco campsite. What we are starting with is a beautiful property (already renovated), three hectares (7 acres) of attached land, gorgeous views in the South of the Loire region and importantly a good stock of wine :) The property is a peaceful 4km bike ride from Neuvy-Saint-Sepulchre where you’ll find bars restaurants shops and a beautiful fishing lake. We are also very close to a bus route allowing access to the beautiful old towns of Aregnton-sur-Creuse (train station), Le Chatre and Chateauroux(train station). We are also located very close to the Brenne Nation Park, with its ‘thousand lakes’ and parkland it’s a nature lovers paradise.

Area: Toowoomba on the Great Dividing Range, Queensland

At the moment we have a space from February 27. We live about 30 minutes north of Toowoomba, two hours west of Brisbane on 80 acres. It's a new place and there is lots of work to do, so we just need help in the house to free us up to get out and do the landscaping, fencing etc (which you can help us with if you prefer to be outdoors). Mum works and is also doing a PhD and Dad is away with work most of the time, so it's hard getting through the list of things we want to do! We have some horses, although we only have one that can be ridden at the moment, so our Workawayer will be able to ride sometimes if they are experienced at riding (some competition experience is what we would be looking for in jumping, dressage, western or reining). If you are hoping to ride, you must be a competent rider with fairly recent riding experience as you will have to ride by yourself most of the time. Having siad all that, it is perfectly fine if you have no horse experience at all :-)) A driver's licence and safe and competent driving skills are absolutely necessary as we are way out of town. We have access to beautiful riding and bushwalking country as our house is surrounded by bush with lots of wild animals and birds. At the moment we have a space from February 27. Much of the work we will give you will be house or garden related while I work or study and then on weekends we will tackle bigger jobs or take horses to competitions. There is plenty of time to go bushwalking with the dogs or ride and explore the area.

Area: Kebili

We are a couple Dutch 44 and Tunisian 32 setting up a horse farm in the very South of Tunisia, in Douz in a Bedouin culture. We have 7 horses, 3 dogs and 2 cats to look after. From the end of September until the end of May we organise horse and dromedary trekkings through the Tunisian Sahara. We only take experienced horse riders as volunteers! Others are very very welcome as (paying) guests. During summer you can expect a lot of Bedouin weddings, for photographers a must to experience!

Area: St Croix

I am a forest ecologist and owner of a small environmental consulting firm here in the Virgin Islands. My wife and I have spent the past several years restoring and renovating a run down house that is now a lovely (somewhat completed) home. We have roughly doubled the size of the house and have done most of the work ourselves. We have our hands full with a charming 1yr old baby and a dozen household projects. They range from light carpentry to caring for my fruit trees and outdoor collection of rare plant to general indoor fix-its. We have been in the Virgin Islands for over 12 years and can help you find the best local beaches and help you plan the next leg of your travels. For us, the ideal work-awayer will be a couple interested in staying for around 3 weeks.
